UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE: The Series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road and World of Lyricism

歌川広重の浮世絵約200点で、旅の名所や雪・月・花の美しい風景をたどります。「東海道五拾三次之内 日本橋 朝之景」「箱根 湖水図」や、ゴッホが油絵でまねをしたことでも知られる「名所江戸百景 亀戸梅屋舗」など、有名な作品が並びます。
About 200 prints by Utagawa Hiroshige trace famous travel spots and lyrical scenes of snow, moon and flowers. Well-known works include "Nihonbashi: Morning View" and "Hakone: View of the Lake" from the Tōkaidō series, and "Plum Garden in Kameido" from One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, a print Van Gogh copied in oil.

Moon, Stars and ...: When Art Links Time, People and Things

千葉のまちができて900年を記念し、月と星をテーマに昔と今の美術をつなぐ展覧会です。北斎の『富嶽百景』の「鳥越の不二」や、星の地図「ブルナッチ天球図」、修理のあと初めて公開される宮島達男「地の天」など、約150点が並びます。
Marking 900 years since the founding of Chiba, this exhibition uses the moon and stars to link art of the past and present. About 150 works include "Fuji at Torigoe" from Hokusai's One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji, the Brunacci celestial map, and Miyajima Tatsuo's "Chi no Ten," shown for the first time since its restoration.

The Best of the Sumida Hokusai Museum: The Sumida River Scroll and Other Masterpieces

開館10周年を記念して、コレクションから名品をえりすぐりました。目玉は全長約7メートル、北斎の肉筆画でいちばん長い絵巻「隅田川両岸景色図巻」です。「冨嶽三十六景 山下白雨」などの浮世絵や肉筆画「朱描鍾馗図」、弟子たちの作品も並びます。
For its 10th anniversary, the museum presents the best of its collection. The star is "Scenery on Both Banks of the Sumida River," about 7 meters long and the longest of Hokusai's paintings. Prints such as "Storm below the Summit" from Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, paintings and works by his pupils are also on view.

Van Gogh's Langlois Bridge and the Impressionists from the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum

ドイツ・ケルンのヴァルラフ＝リヒャルツ美術館から、42人の画家による印象派とその前後の作品70点が来日します。目玉はゴッホが南フランスのアルルで描いた「跳ね橋」で、名古屋では初めての公開です。モネ、ルノワール、スーラ、ゴーガンなどの作品も並びます。
Seventy works by 42 artists, from the Impressionists and the painters before and after them, come from the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne, Germany. The star is Van Gogh's "The Langlois Bridge," painted in Arles in southern France and shown in Nagoya for the first time. Works by Monet, Renoir, Seurat and Gauguin are also on view.

The Tale of Genji: Radiant Culture of the Japanese Imperial Court

紫式部が書いた『源氏物語』の世界を、絵巻や屏風、書などでたどる展覧会です。徳川美術館の国宝「源氏物語絵巻」のうち「橋姫」（11月3日〜15日）と「宿木三」（11月17日〜29日）が京都会場だけで公開されるほか、国宝「初音の調度」の「宇治香箱」なども並びます。
Picture scrolls, screens and calligraphy bring to life the world of The Tale of Genji, written by Murasaki Shikibu. Two scenes from the National Treasure Tale of Genji Scrolls, "Hashihime" (November 3 to 15) and "Yadorigi III" (November 17 to 29), are shown only in Kyoto, along with a National Treasure incense box from the Hatsune trousseau.

熊本地震から10年の節目に、熊本（肥後）ゆかりの仏像を集めた展覧会です。仏師・肥後定慶が作った国宝「木造准胝観音菩薩立像」（京都・大報恩寺）や、重要文化財の明導寺「木造阿弥陀坐像及び両脇侍立像」、永青文庫の「石造菩薩半跏像」などが並びます。
Ten years after the Kumamoto earthquakes, this exhibition gathers Buddhist sculptures linked to Kumamoto, once called Higo. Highlights include the National Treasure standing Juntei Kannon by the sculptor Higo Jōkei from Daihōonji in Kyoto, and Important Cultural Properties such as the Amida triad of Myōdōji and a stone bodhisattva from the Eisei Bunko.

Samurai: Seven Painters Who Took on the Renewal of Japanese-Style Painting

日本画を新しくしようと挑んだ7人、横山大観・竹内栖鳳・菱田春草・川合玉堂・橋本関雪・伊東深水・川端龍子の作品を紹介します。大観のコレクションで知られる足立美術館から、大観「乾坤輝く」、栖鳳「雨霽」、春草「猫梅」などが並びます。
Seven painters who set out to renew Japanese-style painting are featured: Yokoyama Taikan, Takeuchi Seihō, Hishida Shunsō, Kawai Gyokudō, Hashimoto Kansetsu, Itō Shinsui and Kawabata Ryūshi. The Adachi Museum, famous for its Taikan collection, shows works such as Taikan's "Kenkon Kagayaku," Seihō's "After the Rain" and Shunsō's "Cat and Plum."

Hokusai × Hiroshige: The Hara Yasusaburo Collection

実業家の原安三郎が集めた浮世絵のコレクションから、北斎と広重の作品を紹介する特別展です。北斎が描いた富士山の風景と、広重が描いた東海道の旅の風景を中心に、初めて公開される肉筆画や、原さんの注文で作られた絵巻も見ることができます。
This special exhibition draws on the ukiyo-e collection of businessman Hara Yasusaburo. It centers on Hokusai's views of Mount Fuji and Hiroshige's scenes of the Tōkaidō road. Visitors can also see paintings shown to the public for the first time and a picture scroll made at Hara's request.

浮世絵に描かれたネコを集めた、ネコ好きにうれしい展覧会です。大のネコ好きとして知られる歌川国芳と、その弟子たちの作品が中心です。うちわの絵「猫のすゞみ」など、江戸の人たちに愛されたネコたちの、かわいい姿やふしぎな姿を楽しめます。
A treat for cat lovers, this exhibition gathers cats in ukiyo-e prints. It centers on Utagawa Kuniyoshi, famous for loving cats, and his pupils. Works such as the fan print "Cats Enjoying the Cool Air" show the cute and curious cats that people in Edo adored.

京都の大徳寺ができて700年を記念し、国宝14件・重要文化財69件が集まります。中国の画家・牧谿の国宝「観音猿鶴図」（前期）、国宝の茶碗「大井戸茶碗 喜左衛門井戸」、狩野永徳が描いた「織田信長像」（後期）、初公開の「千利休立像」などが見どころです。
For the 700th anniversary of Daitokuji temple in Kyoto, 14 National Treasures and 69 Important Cultural Properties gather in Tokyo. Highlights include Muqi's "Guanyin, Monkeys and Crane" (first period), the tea bowl "Kizaemon Ido," Kanō Eitoku's portrait of Oda Nobunaga (second period) and a statue of Sen no Rikyū shown for the first time.

Katsushika Ōi "Night Scene in the Yoshiwara" – The Lineage of Nightscapes

北斎の娘・葛飾応為が光と影で描いた名作「吉原格子先之図」を全期間展示し、浮世絵に描かれた夜の景色の歴史をたどります。鳥居清長、歌川広重、小林清親たちが、月の夜や暗い町をどのように描いたのか、くらべて見ることができます。
Katsushika Ōi's masterpiece of light and shadow, "Night Scene in the Yoshiwara," is on view for the whole run. Ōi was Hokusai's daughter. The exhibition traces night scenes in ukiyo-e, comparing how Torii Kiyonaga, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kobayashi Kiyochika and others painted moonlit nights and dark streets.

近代日本画の名品で知られる山種美術館の、えりすぐりのコレクション約40点を紹介します。重要文化財の竹内栖鳳「班猫」と村上華岳「裸婦図」をはじめ、横山大観「心神」、菱田春草「月四題」、上村松園「蛍」、速水御舟の作品などが並びます。
About 40 highlights from the Yamatane Museum, famous for modern Japanese-style painting, are on view. They include two Important Cultural Properties, Takeuchi Seihō's "Spotted Cat" and Murakami Kagaku's "Nude," as well as Yokoyama Taikan's "Shinshin," Hishida Shunsō's "Four Views of the Moon" and Uemura Shōen's "Fireflies."

Masterpieces of the Renaissance from the Musée du Louvre

パリのルーヴル美術館から、ルネサンス時代の絵画や彫刻、工芸など50点あまりが来日します。目玉はレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチの「女性の肖像」（通称「美しきフェロニエール」）です。ボッティチェリ、ティツィアーノ、デューラーの版画「サイ」、エル・グレコなどの作品も並びます。
Just over 50 Renaissance paintings, sculptures and decorative objects come from the Louvre in Paris. The star is Leonardo da Vinci's "Portrait of a Woman," known as "La Belle Ferronnière." Works by Botticelli, Titian and El Greco and Dürer's woodcut "Rhinoceros" are also on view.

明治時代に日本美術にほれこんだアメリカ・ボストンのビゲローの、没後100年を記念する展覧会です。前期・後期とも約100点を展示します。狩野芳崖の重要文化財「悲母観音」（12月1日〜13日のみ）や「不動明王」（前期）、喜多川歌麿「太夫と禿図」（前期）などが見られます。
This exhibition marks 100 years since the death of William Sturgis Bigelow, a Bostonian who fell in love with Japanese art in the Meiji era. About 100 works are shown in each period, including Kanō Hōgai's "Merciful Mother Kannon" (December 1 to 13 only) and "Fudō Myōō," both Important Cultural Properties, and Utamaro's "Courtesan and Attendant."

東京国立博物館に新しくおくられた内山晋コレクションの浮世絵1025点から、歌川広重の名作を紹介します。3つの期間で作品をすべて入れかえ、「東海道五拾三次」「木曽海道六拾九次」「名所江戸百景」の3大シリーズを順番に見ることができます。
Tokyo National Museum shows masterpieces by Utagawa Hiroshige from the Uchiyama Susumu Collection, a recent gift of 1,025 ukiyo-e prints. All works change across three periods, presenting his three great series in turn: the Tōkaidō, the Kisokaidō and One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.

This exhibition marks 100 years since the death of Sumitomo Shunsui, head of the Sumitomo family and a devoted lover of art. From the family's modern art collection come Monet's "Parc Monceau" (second period), Fujishima Takeji's "Happy Morning" and Itaya Hazan's vase with fruit design, an Important Cultural Property.

Western paintings of people and their inner feelings come from the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum. They include "Man Smoking a Pipe" by Georges de La Tour, known for his candlelight scenes, Tintoretto's "Portrait of a Collector," Millet's "Goose Girl" and Morisot's "On the Terrace."

福岡県久留米市生まれの画家・吉田博の、生誕150年を記念するコレクション展です。アメリカやヨーロッパ、アフリカ、アジアを旅して描いた風景を、福岡市美術館が持つ木版画と水彩画で紹介します。吉田博は明治から昭和にかけて活やくし、木版画でも多くの名作をのこしました。
This collection display marks 150 years since the birth of Yoshida Hiroshi, a painter born in Kurume, Fukuoka. Through woodblock prints and watercolors, it presents landscapes he made while traveling in America, Europe, Africa and Asia from the museum's collection. Active from the Meiji to the Shōwa era, Yoshida also left many celebrated woodblock prints.

抽象画をきりひらいた画家カンディンスキーの作品を、日本の美術館のコレクションから集めた展覧会です。初期の「商人たちの到着」「3本の菩提樹」から、「尖端」「浮遊」「絵の中の絵」、晩年の「全体」まで、画風の移り変わりと日本への影響をたどります。
This exhibition gathers works by Wassily Kandinsky, a pioneer of abstract painting, from museums across Japan. From early works such as "Arrival of the Merchants" and "Three Lime Trees" to "Floating," "Picture within a Picture" and his late "Entirety," it traces how his style changed and how it echoed in Japan.

西洋の美術を集めた松方幸次郎と、戦後日本の「具体」の作品を集めた山村德太郎、2人のコレクターを初めていっしょに紹介します。国立西洋美術館からロダンの「考える人」「青銅時代」がやってきて、「地獄の門」に関係する彫刻11点の特集もあります。
For the first time, this exhibition presents two great collectors together: Matsukata Kōjirō, who collected Western art, and Yamamura Tokutarō, who collected the postwar Japanese Gutai group. Rodin's "The Thinker" and "The Age of Bronze" come from the National Museum of Western Art, with a feature on 11 sculptures linked to "The Gates of Hell."

Cincinnati Art Museum: European Treasures That Crossed to America

アメリカ・オハイオ州のシンシナティ美術館から、ヨーロッパの絵画と彫刻84点がやってきます（うち81点が初来日）。ゴッホが亡くなった年に描いた「ポプラ林の中の二人」をはじめ、モネ、セザンヌ、ドガ、ゴーギャン、ピカソなどの作品が並びます。
Eighty-four European paintings and sculptures come from the Cincinnati Art Museum in Ohio, and 81 of them are shown in Japan for the first time. The highlight is Van Gogh's "Undergrowth with Two Figures," painted in the year he died, alongside works by Monet, Cézanne, Degas, Gauguin and Picasso.

5 Stars of Ukiyo-e Artists

江戸の浮世絵を代表する5人の絵師の作品、約140点が集まります。歌麿「美人十容 有徳人の女房」、写楽の役者絵、北斎「百物語 笑ひはんにや」、広重「名所江戸百景 水道橋駿河台」、国芳「としよりのよふな若い人だ」など、5人の個性をくらべて楽しめます。
About 140 works by five of the greatest ukiyo-e artists of the Edo period come together. Highlights include Utamaro's beauty prints, Sharaku's actor portraits, Hokusai's ghost print "Laughing Demon" from One Hundred Ghost Stories, Hiroshige's "Suidō Bridge and Surugadai" and Kuniyoshi's "He Looks Old but He's Young." It is a chance to compare five very different styles.

19世紀末のパリで、芸術家たちが集まったカフェやキャバレーの文化を、三菱一号館美術館とひろしま美術館のコレクションで紹介します。ゴッホ「モンマルトルの風車」、ルノワール「パリ、トリニテ広場」、ロートレックのポスター「ムーラン・ルージュ、ラ・グーリュ」などが並びます。
Drawing on the collections of the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum and the Hiroshima Museum of Art, this exhibition explores the cafés and cabarets where artists gathered in late 19th-century Paris. Works include Van Gogh's "Windmills on Montmartre," Renoir's "La Place de la Trinité, Paris" and Lautrec's poster "Moulin Rouge: La Goulue."

江戸時代の終わりごろ、土佐（今の高知県）で芝居の名場面を描いた絵師・絵金の、没後150年を記念する展覧会です。芝居絵屏風「浮世柄比翼稲妻 鈴ヶ森」や、絵金と河田小龍の芝居絵屏風5点、修理を終えた「放屁合戦図」などが並びます。
This exhibition marks 150 years since the death of Ekin, who painted dramatic scenes from kabuki plays in Tosa, today's Kōchi, at the end of the Edo period. Works include the play screen "Suzugamori," five play screens by Ekin and Kawada Shōryō, and the newly restored "Farting Contest."

東京の出光美術館が持つ名品が大分にやってきます。長谷川等伯などの屏風絵の名品、伊藤若冲をはじめとする江戸時代の絵画、仙厓の禅画「布袋画賛」、中国・明のやきもの「五彩牡丹文皿」などを、美を守り伝えた出光佐三の思いとともに紹介します。
Treasures of the Idemitsu Museum of Arts in Tokyo come to Ōita. Folding screens by masters such as Hasegawa Tōhaku, Edo-period paintings led by Itō Jakuchū, Sengai's Zen painting of Hotei and a Ming-dynasty Chinese porcelain plate are shown, with the story of founder Idemitsu Sazō, who worked to protect and pass on beauty.
一部作品は期間限定展示（仙厓「布袋画賛」は12月13日まで）。12月14日は休展。

Masterpieces of Hokusai in Obuse: Homecoming from Nantes, France

2025年にフランス・ナントの城で開かれ、約15万人が訪れた北斎展から作品が帰ってきたことを記念し、北斎館の作品約160点を紹介します。肉筆画「富士越龍」や、「冨嶽三十六景」の「神奈川沖浪裏」「山下白雨」などは全期間見られます。
About 160 works from the Hokusai-kan come home from a 2025 Hokusai exhibition at the castle in Nantes, France, which drew about 150,000 visitors. Hokusai's painting "Dragon Flying over Mount Fuji" and the prints "Great Wave" and "Storm below the Summit" can be seen for the whole run.

Bringing together Renoir paintings held in Japan, this exhibition traces how Japanese people have loved Renoir from the Meiji era to today. Alongside works such as "Bather" and "Girl with Flowers on Her Breast," it shows paintings by Japanese artists who admired him, such as Umehara Ryūzaburō.

目の前のものをよく見て描く「写生」で人気を集めた江戸時代の画家、円山応挙の展覧会です。兵庫県の大乗寺に伝わるふすま絵などを中心に、重要文化財「松に孔雀図」や「郭子儀図」、子犬がかわいい「狗子図」など、若いころから晩年までの作品をたどります。
This exhibition features Maruyama Ōkyo, the Edo-period painter who became popular for drawing carefully from life. Centering on the sliding-door paintings of Daijōji temple in Hyōgo, it follows his whole career through works such as "Peacocks and Pine" and "Guo Ziyi" (both Important Cultural Properties) and the charming "Puppies."

北斎の「冨嶽三十六景」から「神奈川沖浪裏」「凱風快晴（赤富士）」「山下白雨（黒富士）」の3図がそろいます。広重の「名所江戸百景」からも「大はしあたけの夕立」「亀戸梅屋舗」など5図が並び、どれも江戸〜明治時代に摺られた本物の版画です。
Three of Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, "Great Wave," "Red Fuji" and "Black Fuji" (Storm below the Summit), are shown together. Five of Hiroshige's One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, including "Sudden Shower over Ōhashi Bridge" and "Plum Garden in Kameido," join them. All are original prints made in the Edo to Meiji periods.

About 150 works by Alphonse Mucha, a leading Art Nouveau artist, are shown with the cooperation of the OGATA Collection. They include "Gismonda," his poster for the actress Sarah Bernhardt, as well as "Reverie" and "Zodiac," and the display is combined with large-screen video.

円山応挙の国宝「雪松図屏風」を中心に、四季や天気をテーマにした作品を紹介します。雪をかぶった松を、紙の白さを生かして描いた名作です。茶道具の「唐物丸壺茶入 銘淡雪」や、平安時代の和歌の書「継色紙」「寸松庵色紙」なども楽しめます。
Centered on Maruyama Ōkyo's National Treasure "Pine Trees in Snow" screens, this exhibition presents works on the seasons and the weather. In the screens, the white of the paper itself becomes the snow on the pines. Tea utensils such as the tea caddy "Awayuki" and Heian-period poetry calligraphy are also on view.

若いモネに外で絵を描くことを教え、「印象派の父」とよばれるブーダンの展覧会です。フランスのランス美術館やル・アーヴルのアンドレ・マルロー近代美術館などから、海辺や空を描いた油彩・素描・パステル・版画など約100点が集まります。
Eugène Boudin, who taught the young Monet to paint outdoors, is known as the "father of Impressionism." About 100 oil paintings, drawings, pastels and prints come from the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Reims, the MuMa in Le Havre and other French museums, including scenes of beaches and skies.

Shuri Castle: The Royal Castle of Ryukyu

琉球王国の王さまが住んでいた首里城の歴史と美を紹介する展覧会です。重要文化財の歌集「おもろさうし」や、金銅のかんざし「金銅雲龍文簪」、昔の首里城をえがいた「沖縄県琉球国首里旧城之図」、1953年に作られた首里城正殿の模型などが並びます。
This exhibition introduces the history and beauty of Shuri Castle, home of the kings of the Ryukyu Kingdom. On view are Important Cultural Properties such as the song collection "Omoro Sōshi" and a gilt bronze hairpin with clouds and dragons, along with an old plan of the castle and a 1953 model of its main hall.

ロンドンのテート美術館から、イギリスの風景画家ターナーの油彩画や水彩画など80点以上が来日します。「グリゾン州の雪崩」や「荒海とイルカ」など、自然のおそろしさと美しさ（崇高）を描いた作品を、現代美術の作品とくらべながら見られます。
More than 80 works by the British landscape painter J. M. W. Turner, including oils and watercolors, come from Tate in London. Paintings such as "The Avalanche in the Grisons" and "Rough Sea with Dolphins" capture the terror and beauty of nature, the sublime, and are shown in dialogue with contemporary art.

尾形光琳の国宝「紅白梅図屏風」を中心に、野々村仁清の国宝「色絵藤花文茶壺」、手鑑「翰墨城」の国宝3件など、MOA美術館の名品が並びます。酒井抱一「雪月花図」や、喜多川歌麿、歌川広重「東海道五十三次 箱根」などの浮世絵も出品されます。
MOA Museum's finest treasures are on view, led by three National Treasures: Ogata Kōrin's "Red and White Plum Blossoms" screens, Nonomura Ninsei's tea-leaf jar with wisteria, and the calligraphy album "Kanbokujō." Sakai Hōitsu's "Snow, Moon and Flowers" and ukiyo-e by Utamaro and Hiroshige, including his Hakone view from the Tōkaidō series, are also shown.

Billed as "the peak of Edo entertainment," this exhibition presents 220 works by the ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Powerful warrior prints, legendary monsters and clever comic pictures show his endless ideas. "Asahina Visiting the Island of Little People" is among the works introduced.

For the 100th anniversary of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, masterpieces arrive from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. They include Millet's "The Gleaners," Van Gogh's "Starry Night" (over the Rhône) and Gauguin's "Arearea," along with works by Renoir and Monet.

All 46 prints of Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji are shown together. Besides the red Fuji of "Fine Wind, Clear Morning," the giant "Great Wave" and the lightning of "Storm below the Summit," visitors can see "Kajikazawa" and "Ejiri." "Nihonbashi in Edo" is compared with the Nihonbashi of today.

To mark 100 years since Monet's death, the Pola Museum shows all 19 of its Monet oil paintings. They span the 1870s to the 1900s, from Seine riverbanks and the Gare Saint-Lazare to his London and Venice series, and are shown alongside works by 18 contemporary artists from Japan and abroad.

This exhibition links the avant-garde art of the Taishō era, when artists tried bold new styles, with art of today's Reiwa era. Works include Yorozu Tetsugorō's "Self-Portrait in Pointillist Style," Kon Junzō's "Balalaika" and pieces by the Aomori-born printmaker Munakata Shikō.

This is the second part of the Great Van Gogh Exhibition, organized with the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Netherlands. "The Langlois Bridge at Arles," shown in Japan for the first time in about 70 years, comes with "Country Road in Provence by Night," "Portrait of Joseph Roulin" and "Blossoming Chestnut Branches."

This exhibition places Edo-period paintings next to contemporary art to find ideas that connect across time. It brings together Edo painters such as Itō Jakuchū, Ike no Taiga and Maruyama Ōkyo with contemporary artists including Kusama Yayoi, Nara Yoshitomo and Katō Izumi.
