画面の上に、大きな黒いちょうちんがどーんとぶら下がっています。その下には、雪につつまれた参道と赤い門、右奥には五重塔。かさをさした人々が、雪の中をお参りに向かいます。歌川広重の「名所江戸百景」の一枚で、1856年に出版されました。題名の「金龍山」は、東京・浅草にある浅草寺の山号（お寺の呼び名）です。

A huge black lantern hangs across the top of the picture. Below it are a snowy approach, a red gate and, on the right, a five-story pagoda. People with umbrellas walk through the snow to pray. This is from Utagawa Hiroshige's One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, published in 1856. Kinryūzan is the 'mountain name' of Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo.

見る人は、雷門の中に立って、門の柱とちょうちんのあいだから境内をのぞいています。左の赤と緑の柱、上のちょうちんが、雪景色をかこむ枠になっています。白い雪と赤い門、黒いちょうちんの色の対比があざやかです。降りしきる雪は、空にちらした白い点で表されています。この絵は、シリーズの冬の部に入っています。

We are standing inside the Kaminarimon Gate, looking at the temple between a pillar and the lantern. The red and green pillar on the left and the lantern above make a frame around the snowy scene. The white snow, red gate and black lantern make a strong contrast. The falling snow is shown with white dots across the sky. The print belongs to the winter section of the series.

浅草寺は東京でいちばん古いお寺と言われ、今も世界中から人が訪れます。ただし、この絵のあと、雷門は1865年の火事で焼け、五重塔も1945年の空襲で失われました。今の雷門や五重塔は、昭和になって建て直されたものです。浮世絵は同じ版木から何枚も摺られたので、この図柄も世界中の美術館にあります。

Sensō-ji is said to be the oldest temple in Tokyo, and people from all over the world still visit it. But after this print was made, the Kaminarimon Gate burned in a fire in 1865, and the pagoda was destroyed in an air raid in 1945. Today's gate and pagoda were rebuilt in the Shōwa era. Many prints were made from the same blocks, so this design is in museums around the world.
