ドイツのニュルンベルクで、金細工師の息子として生まれました。2度イタリアへ旅して、ルネサンスの考え方を北ヨーロッパに持ち帰ります。銅版画や木版画をたくさん作って売り、ヨーロッパ中で知られる最初の画家のひとりになりました。「野うさぎ」の水彩や「メレンコリアI」の版画が有名です。人の体の比例を研究した本も書いています。
Dürer was born in Nuremberg, Germany, the son of a goldsmith. He traveled to Italy twice and brought Renaissance ideas back to northern Europe. He made and sold many engravings and woodcuts, and became one of the first artists famous all over Europe. His watercolor Young Hare and his engraving Melencolia I are well known. He also wrote books about the proportions of the human body.
