この月の行事・文化
- 武道必修 ラジオ体操rajio taisothe national radio exercise routine 音楽を聞けば体が動く。日本人ならほぼ全員が同じ動きを覚えている。
- 年中行事必修 お盆obonthe summer festival for returning ancestors 日本のお盆はハロウィンではない。帰ってくる先祖を「迎えて、送る」4日間。
- 年中行事必修 夏祭りの屋台yataifestival food stalls たこ焼き、焼きそば、りんご飴、金魚すくい。祭りの楽しみの半分は参道の屋台にある。

- 着物標準 甚平と作務衣jinbei and samueeasy Japanese clothes you can actually wear 着付けが要らない和服。土産に買って本当に着られるのはこれ。
- 工芸標準 扇子sensufolding fan 折りたたむ扇は日本で生まれ、中国を経てヨーロッパへ渡ったとされる。
- 工芸標準 風鈴furinwind chimes 音で涼しくなるわけがない。それでも日本人は涼しいと感じる。
