外国人に教えたい飲食店・コンビニの日本語28選|英語での説明つき
「いらっしゃいませって何て返せばいいの?」「いただきますはお祈り?」――日本の飲食店やコンビニでは、外国人が戸惑う決まり文句がたくさん飛び交います。このページでは、店員が言うことと客が返すことを両方まとめ、それぞれ英語で説明できるようにしました。注文から会計、チップの有無、アレルギーの伝え方まで扱います。
📝 教える前に知っておきたいこと
- たいていの店では、軽く手を挙げて「すみません」と言えば店員を呼べます。テーブルに呼び出しボタンがある店もあります。
- 日本にはふつうチップの習慣がないと伝えましょう。テーブルに余分なお金を置いていくと、店員が返しに追いかけてくることがよくあります。
- 気軽な店の多くは、テーブルではなく出口近くのレジで払います。渡された伝票を持って前へ行きましょう。
- 重いアレルギーや食事の決まりがある人には、日本語で書いたものを持ち歩くようすすめましょう。口頭の説明は誤解されることがあり、だしやソースに思いがけない材料が入っていることもあります。
- メニューの写真や店先の食品サンプルを指さすのは、ごくふつうのことで失礼ではありません。

You will hear it the moment you walk into almost any shop or restaurant, often shouted by several staff at once. You don't need to reply; customers usually just walk in. A small nod or smile is plenty.
ほとんどの店や飲食店で、入った瞬間に聞こえる言葉で、何人もの店員がいっせいに声を出すこともあります。返事はいりません。客はふつう黙って入ります。軽く会釈するか、ほほえむくらいで十分です。

Counting people is irregular: hitori (1), futari (2), sannin (3), yonin (4), gonin (5). For one person, "hitori desu" is common and nobody finds dining alone unusual.
人の数え方は不規則で、ひとり、ふたり、さんにん、よにん、ごにんと数えます。一人なら「ひとりです」とよく言い、一人で食事するのを変だと思う人はいません。

Give your name after the time. If you don't have one, "yoyaku shite imasen" (no reservation). Popular places may say "manseki desu," meaning they are full.

Said quietly before the first bite, often with hands together. It is not a religious prayer for most people, just a habit of thanks. In a restaurant, people say it to themselves or their table, not to the staff.

Said when you finish, and often to the staff or chef as you leave or pay, especially at small places. It is also how you thank someone who treated you to the meal.

Servers usually wait to be called rather than checking on you, so speak up when you are ready. More and more places use tablets or QR codes on the table for ordering.

Staff are usually happy to answer, and many menus have a section marked おすすめ. It is a good way to try a local or seasonal dish you would not have picked yourself.
店員はたいてい喜んで答えてくれますし、メニューに「おすすめ」の欄がある店も多いです。自分では選ばなかったような、その土地の料理や季節の料理を試すいい方法です。

Many ramen, soba, and rice-bowl shops have a ticket machine by the entrance. Buy the ticket, then hand it to the staff or place it on the counter. If staff say the example sentence to you, head back to the machine.
ラーメン、そば、丼の店の多くは、入口に券売機があります。食券を買ったら店員に渡すか、カウンターに置きます。店員に例文のように言われたら、券売機に戻りましょう。

Karai means spicy-hot, but some people also use it for very salty food. Most Japanese food is mild, though curry, ramen, and some Korean-style dishes can be hot.
「辛い」は唐辛子のような辛さのことですが、とてもしょっぱい料理に使う人もいます。日本の料理はたいてい辛くありませんが、カレーやラーメン、韓国風の料理には辛いものもあります。

Put the ingredient before nuki de. Common ones are wasabi, negi (green onion), and nori. It works for preferences, but for a real allergy, say so directly.

Say the food, then "no arerugi." Chains often have allergen charts; small shops may not know every ingredient in their sauces or broth. For anything severe, show a written card in Japanese.
食べ物の名前のあとに「のアレルギー」と言います。チェーン店にはアレルゲン表があることが多いですが、小さな店ではソースやだしの材料まで全部把握していないこともあります。重いアレルギーなら、日本語で書いたカードを見せましょう。

Always add the second sentence, because "vegetarian" is understood differently from person to person. Many soups and sauces use dashi, a stock often made from dried fish flakes, so even vegetable dishes may not be vegetarian.
「ベジタリアン」の受け取り方は人によって違うので、必ず二つ目の文も添えましょう。汁物やソースの多くには、かつお節でとることが多い「だし」が使われているので、野菜料理でもベジタリアン向けとは限りません。

Free water or tea is served at most restaurants, often with a wet towel. At some places it is self-service from a jug or machine; look for 水 or "セルフサービス" signs.

At many places you take the bill to the register instead of paying at the table. Some people signal for the check by crossing their index fingers in an X, but the spoken phrase is clearer and more polite.

Konbini staff ask this when you buy a boxed meal. Reply "hai, onegaishimasu" for yes, or "iie, sono mama de" (no, as it is) for no. Some stores now have a microwave you use yourself.

At konbini you will hear "ohashi wa otsuke shimasu ka" (would you like chopsticks?). "Hai" or "iie" is enough. A spoon is "supun" and a fork is "foku" if you need one.
コンビニでは「お箸はお付けしますか」と聞かれます。「はい」か「いいえ」で十分です。スプーンは「スプーン」、フォークは「フォーク」と言えば通じます。
