Thirty-two soup cans for $1,000
In 1962 Warhol showed 32 paintings of Campbell's soup cans at a gallery in Los Angeles. He said he had eaten the soup for lunch almost every day for years. The dealer Irving Blum bought all 32 for $1,000 and kept them together as one set. In 1996 they entered MoMA's collection, and today they are icons of Pop Art.
