The painting Hemingway fell in love with
As a young artist in Paris, Miró was friends with Ernest Hemingway, who was still an emerging writer. Hemingway fell in love with The Farm, scraped together the money to buy it, and gave it to his wife Hadley for her birthday. He later wrote that it held everything you feel about Spain. The painting stayed with the Hemingway family for decades and is now in the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
