2018年10月、ロンドンのオークションで《風船と少女》が約104万ポンドで落札された直後、額にかくされていたシュレッダーが動きだし、絵の下半分が細く切られてしまいました。仕掛けたのはバンクシー本人です。作品は《愛はごみ箱の中に》と名前を変え、2021年には約1858万ポンドで再び落札されました。
In October 2018, just after Girl with Balloon sold at a London auction for about £1.04 million, a shredder hidden in the frame started up and cut the lower half of the picture into strips. Banksy himself had planned it. Renamed Love is in the Bin, the work sold again in 2021 for about £18.6 million.

2005年の本に「著作権なんて負け犬のもの」と書いたバンクシー。でもその本にも著作権の表示があります。公式の窓口は、個人で楽しむのはOK、商売に使うのは禁止としています。ヨーロッパでは商標の使用などが争われ、一部が「無効」とされたことも、認められたこともあります。作品の著作権はあり、パブリックドメインではありません。
In his 2005 book Wall and Piece, Banksy wrote 'Copyright is for losers' — yet the book itself carries a copyright notice. His official office says personal, non-commercial fun is fine, but commercial use is not allowed. In Europe, some of his trademarks have been challenged or cancelled over questions such as genuine use or bad faith — not simply because he is anonymous — while other rulings went his way. His works are still protected by copyright, not in the public domain.

In 2005, Banksy secretly put up a piece of concrete showing a caveman pushing a shopping cart in the British Museum, with a label that looked real. It reportedly went unnoticed for a while. In 2018, the museum displayed the same piece in an official exhibition.

In 2009, a big Banksy show opened at the museum in Bristol, said to be his hometown. Preparations were disguised as a film shoot, and only a few museum staff knew. More than 300,000 people visited in 11 weeks.
