The secret of the milky-white skin
Foujita moved to Paris in 1913, and in the 1920s he became a star with his paintings of women with smooth, glowing white skin. He rarely revealed how he made this famous milky white. Recent scientific studies suggest he probably used several different kinds of white paint, each for a different effect.

In 1959, at the age of 72, Foujita was baptized a Catholic at Reims Cathedral in France. He chose the name Léonard after Leonardo da Vinci, whom he admired. Late in life he built a small chapel in Reims and painted its murals himself.
