英語で言うと

Boshu refers to grains with bristles, like rice and barley, and to the season for planting them. The rainy season usually begins around now.

芒種の「芒」は稲や麦の穂先のとげ。その種をまくころを指す。たいていこの前後に梅雨入りする。
