   解説express one's gratitude to A for B は「Bについて A に感謝を表す」。thank より改まった言い方です。to date は「これまでのところ」。bilateral は「二国間の」で、bi-（2つの）＋ lateral（側面の）からできた語です。

   The two leaders also exchanged views on regional affairs and cooperation in the international arena, and confirmed the importance of maintaining and strengthening the unity and integrity of the Pacific Island region.

   訳両首脳は、地域情勢や国際社会での協力についても意見を交わし、太平洋島嶼地域の結束と一体性を保ち、強めていくことの重要性を確認した。

   解説exchanged views on ～ は「〜について意見交換した」。話し合ったことは示しますが、考えが一致したとまでは言っていない書き方です。the international arena は「国際舞台」。arena はもとは競技場で、そこから「活動の場」の意味で使われます。

   Furthermore, the two leaders concurred on continuing to cooperate closely toward the success of the 11th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM 11), which is scheduled to be held in Yokohama next summer, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of PALM.

   訳さらに両首脳は、来年夏に横浜で開かれる予定で、PALM の創設から30周年にあたる第11回太平洋・島サミット（PALM 11）の成功に向けて、引き続き緊密に協力していくことで一致した。

   解説concurred on ～ing は「〜することで一致した」で、会談要旨の決まった動詞です。which is scheduled to be held は「開かれる予定の」。後ろの marking ～ は分詞で「〜にあたる、〜を記念する」と説明を足しています。
