Yuta talks to Mom in a small voice. "Let's make a cake for Grandma. A secret cake!" "Good idea!" says Mom.
ユウタは、お母さんに小さな声で言った。「おばあちゃんにケーキを作ろうよ。秘密のケーキ！」「いいわね！」とお母さん。
On Saturday, Grandma goes out. Yuta and Mom make the cake. Tofu and Kuro want to help.
土曜日、おばあちゃんが出かけた。ユウタとお母さんは、さっそくケーキ作りにとりかかった。トウフとクロも手伝いたそうだった。
Mom puts in eggs and milk. Yuta puts in flour. Kuro jumps up. Oops! The flour falls on Kuro. Now Kuro is white. "You look like Tofu!" says Yuta.
お母さんが卵と牛乳を入れた。ユウタが小麦粉を入れた。そこへクロがぴょんと跳び上がった。あっ！ 小麦粉がクロの上にばさっ。クロは真っ白になってしまった。「トウフみたい！」とユウタ。
Then they put white cream on the cake. Yuta puts red strawberries on the cake. One, two, three... ten! "It's beautiful," says Mom.
それから、ケーキに白いクリームをぬった。ユウタが赤いイチゴをのせていく。一つ、二つ、三つ……十！「きれいね」とお母さんが言った。
Oh no! Grandma is home! "What is that sweet smell?" "Nothing!" says Yuta. Mom puts the cake on the top shelf. Fast!
大変！ おばあちゃんが帰ってきた！「あら、この甘いにおいは何かしら？」「なんでもない！」とユウタ。お母さんはケーキを棚のいちばん上にのせた。大急ぎで！
That night, Yuta goes to bed happy. "Grandma will love the cake," he thinks.
その夜、ユウタはうきうきとベッドに入った。「おばあちゃん、きっとケーキを気に入ってくれるぞ」と思いながら。
On Sunday morning, Yuta looks at the shelf. Oh no! There is a big hole in the cake! And Tofu is on the shelf. He has white cream on his nose.
日曜日の朝、ユウタは棚を見上げた。大変だ！ ケーキに大きな穴があいている！ しかも、棚の上にはトウフがいた。鼻の頭に、白いクリームをつけて。
