The box is old and dirty. Yuta gives it to Grandma. "Oh! I know this box!" she says.
She opens it. In it is an old photo. A little girl holds a white cat. They are at a table. Behind them is a little persimmon tree.
"Is that Tofu?" asks Yuta. Grandma laughs. "No. That is Shiro, my cat. And this girl is me."
"You, Grandma? You are so small!" "I was seven, like you," says Grandma.
There is a card in the box, too. Grandma reads it. "Happy birthday, Haru. Love, Dad." Haru is Grandma's name.
"My dad hid this box," says Grandma. "I looked and looked. I never found it." Now Kuro finds it. Sixty years later!
Grandma pats Kuro. "Thank you, Kuro." Tofu looks at the photo of Shiro. "Meow?"
"Grandma, when is your birthday?" asks Yuta. "Next Sunday," says Grandma. Yuta has an idea. A big idea!
