An old woman finds a coin. "Good! I can buy a pig!"
おばあさんが、お金を一枚見つけました。「しめた！ これでブタが買えるわ！」
She buys a fat pig. On the way home, they come to a stile. The pig will not go over it.
おばあさんは、太ったブタを一匹買いました。帰り道、柵の踏み段のところまで来ました。ところが、ブタはどうしても踏み段を越えようとしませんでした。
She sees a dog. "Dog, dog, bark at Pig!" "No," says the dog.
おばあさんは犬を見つけました。「犬や、犬や、ブタにほえておくれ！」「いやだね」と犬は言いました。
She sees a stick. "Stick, stick, hit Dog!" "No," says the stick.
おばあさんは棒を見つけました。「棒や、棒や、犬をたたいておくれ！」「いやだね」と棒も言いました。
She sees a fire. "Fire, fire, burn Stick!" "No," says the fire.
おばあさんは火を見つけました。「火や、火や、棒を燃やしておくれ！」火の返事も「いやだね」でした。
She sees water. "Water, water, put out Fire!" "No," says the water.
おばあさんは水を見つけました。「水や、水や、火を消しておくれ！」水も「いやだね」と答えました。
She sees an ox. "Ox, ox, drink Water!" "Give me some hay first," says the ox. She gives him some hay.
おばあさんは雄牛を見つけました。「牛や、牛や、水を飲んでおくれ！」「先に干し草をおくれ」と雄牛は言いました。おばあさんは、雄牛に干し草をあげました。
The ox starts to drink the water. The water starts to put out the fire. The fire starts to burn the stick. The stick starts to hit the dog. The dog starts to bark at the pig.
雄牛が水を飲みはじめました。水が火を消しはじめました。火が棒を燃やしはじめました。棒が犬をたたきはじめました。犬がブタにほえはじめました。
The pig is afraid. Up and over the stile it goes! The old woman gets home at last.
ブタは怖くなって、ぴょんと踏み段を越えていきました！ こうしておばあさんは、やっと家に帰ることができました。
