A pigeon is very thirsty. "Water, water," she says. "I need water!"
ハトは喉がからからでした。「水、水」と、ハトは言いました。「水がほしい！」
She sees a picture on a wall. It is a picture of a cup of water. "Water!" she says. She does not stop to look. She does not think.
ハトは、壁にかかった絵を見つけました。水の入ったコップの絵です。「水だわ！」と、ハトは言いました。ハトは立ち止まってよく見ることも、考えることもしませんでした。
She flies fast to the cup. Zoom! Bang! She hits the wall. Ouch! It is only a picture!
ハトはコップめがけて、全速力で飛んでいきました。ビューン！ ゴツン！ ハトは壁にぶつかってしまいました。痛い！ それはただの絵だったのです！
Her wings hurt. She falls down on the ground. A man comes and picks her up.
ハトは羽を痛めて、地面に落ちてしまいました。一人の男の人がやって来て、ハトを拾い上げました。
"Next time," says the pigeon, "I will look first."
「今度からは、まずよく見ることにするわ」と、ハトは言いました。
