Kenta was the best talker in his class. "I'm going to clean the whole classroom today," he said every morning. "I'll be the best cleaner in Japan!"
Yui sat next to him. She did not say much.
On cleaning day, the teacher gave everyone a job. Kenta got a broom. He held it like a microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen," he said, "watch me. I will make this floor shine like the sun!" Everyone laughed.
Then Kenta told a story about his uncle's very clean car. Then he told a story about a very dirty dog. Then he explained the best way to hold a broom.
Yui did not talk. She swept the floor. She washed the windows. She cleaned the blackboard. She even fixed a broken chair.
When the bell rang, the classroom was shining. The teacher looked around. "Who cleaned this room so well?"
"I did..." Kenta started. Then he looked at his broom. It was still perfectly clean.
Everyone looked at Yui. She just smiled. The teacher smiled, too. "Actions speak louder than words," she said.
The next morning, Kenta did not talk about cleaning. He picked up a broom and started to sweep. Yui gave him a thumbs-up.
"Actions speak louder than words." What you do shows more about you than what you say.
