There was a math book on Aya's desk. It was blue and thick, and it always looked sad.
One night, Aya's English book spoke to it. "Why are you always so sad?" she asked. "Aya reads me every day, and I am happy."
The math book sighed. "It's easy for you. You have stories. I have problems. I have too many problems!"
"How many?" asked the English book.
The math book opened up. "Page one, ten problems. Page two, twelve problems. Page three, fifteen problems. And Aya never helps me with any of them. She always waits for her big brother."
The next day, Aya opened the math book. She started with problem number one. She worked for one hour, and she finished the whole page by herself.
That night, the math book smiled for the first time. "Only two hundred more problems to go!" it said happily.
In math, a problem is a question that you must answer. But a problem is also something that makes you worried or sad. The math book had too many problems in both ways!
