否定が2回重なる irregardless。米国の辞書に「非標準」として載り、OEDの最古の例は1795年。でも2012年の調査では、言葉の使い方を判定する専門家の90%が、この語を使った例文を「認められない」と答えた。
ひとことで言うと「まちがい英語」と言われる単語も、辞書にはちゃんと載っているんだって!

Irregardless of the weather, we're going to the beach.
- Regardless of the weather, the game will go on.(天気に関係なく、試合は行われる)
- Irregardless of what you think, I'm going.(君がどう思おうと、ぼくは行く)※非標準
ちなみに、同辞典がつけている印は「slang(俗語)」ではなく「nonstandard(非標準)」。

そして、同じような ir- つきの珍しい語として、irremediless(=remediless、救いようのない)、irresistless(=resistless、抵抗できない)などをあげています。
「否定に見えて否定でない接頭辞」は、ほかにもあります。
- inflammable(燃えやすい):AHD によると、意味は flammable と同じ。この in- は否定ではなく、ラテン語の前置詞 in(中に)から来ている。inflame(火をつける)の in- と同じ

Some English speakers say "irregardless." It means the same as "regardless," or "no matter what." Some people say it is not a real word.
The reason is simple. "Ir-" means "not," and "-less" means "without." So the word seems to say "not" two times.
But big dictionaries list it. The oldest example in the Oxford English Dictionary is from a newspaper in 1795. In tests and emails, it is better to use "regardless."

it has two negative parts ... Because of this, critics often say it isn't a real word とあるので B。

defining a word is not the same as approving of it とあるので C。
Q3. What is the writer's advice?

In 1795, a newspaper in Charleston, South Carolina, printed the word "irregardless." That is the earliest example in the Oxford English Dictionary, so the word has been around for more than two centuries. Many people dislike it, and the reason is easy to see. "Regardless" already ends in the negative suffix "-less," so adding the prefix "ir-" seems to say the same thing twice.
Dictionaries can't even agree on the word's age. Merriam-Webster gives 1847 as its first known use, while the American Heritage Dictionary says it was coined in the early 1900s. They do agree that it is probably a blend of "irrespective" and "regardless." Merriam-Webster lists it as nonstandard and suggests that "ir-" here may work as an intensifier instead of a negative. Usage experts are not convinced.
In 2012, 90 percent of the American Heritage Dictionary's usage panel rejected a sample sentence that used it, and the dictionary notes that copy editors almost always change it to "regardless." It is also still rare in print, at about 0.03 uses per million words, according to the OED. So for an essay or a test, "regardless" is still the word to use.
