Maxxing is short for maximizing. It means doing something as much as you can. You can use it alone or add it to the end of other words.

maxxing は maximizing（最大にすること）を短くした言葉です。何かをできるだけたくさん、とことんやる、という意味です。それだけで使うことも、ほかの言葉のうしろにつけることもできます。

For example, sleepmaxxing means trying to get more and better sleep. Tokenmaxxing means using AI at work as much as possible. Staying home on a Friday night with movies and snacks can be called cozymaxxing.

たとえば sleepmaxxing は、もっと長く、もっとよく眠ろうとすることです。tokenmaxxing は、仕事で AI をできるだけたくさん使うことです。家で映画を見てお菓子を食べる、ふつうの金曜の夜を cozymaxxing と呼ぶこともあります。

The word comes from the world of games. Players used min-maxing to mean making a character's strong points even stronger. The double-x spelling first appeared on Reddit and other websites.

Dictionary.com said searches for maxxing went up very quickly over the past year. Other words on its final list included unc and odyssey. Young people use unc, short for uncle, for an older person who seems out of touch.

Dictionary.com said some people embrace the term, while others use it as a joke. Some even use it for stepping back, as in normalmaxxing, a reaction to the pressure to improve everything.
