マズルカ第5番 変ロ長調

マズルカは、ポーランドのマゾフシェ地方（ワルシャワのあたり）から生まれた3拍子の民族舞踊です。ショパンはこの踊りをもとに、生涯で50曲以上のマズルカを書きました。この作品7の1は、その中でも特に明るく親しみやすく、人気のある1曲です。1832年に出版されました。The mazurka is a folk dance in three beats from Mazovia, the region around Warsaw in Poland. Chopin wrote more than 50 mazurkas in his lifetime. Op. 7 No. 1 is one of the brightest, friendliest, and most popular of them. It was published in 1832.

ふつうの3拍子では1拍目が強くなりますが、マズルカでは2拍目や3拍目にアクセントがくることがよくあります。そのため、はずむような独特の楽しさが生まれます。ショパンは少年時代、夏休みにすごした田舎で村の音楽家たちの演奏を聴き、その響きを心にきざみました。In most three-beat music, the first beat is strongest. But in a mazurka, the accent often falls on the second or third beat. This gives the dance its special, bouncy charm. As a boy, Chopin spent summer holidays in the countryside and listened to village musicians, and he kept their sound in his heart.

祖国をはなれたあとも、ショパンはマズルカを書きつづけました。マズルカは、遠いポーランドへの思いを伝える、ショパンにとって最も個人的な音楽だったと言われます。晩年まで書きつづけ、最後の作品の1つもマズルカだったとよく言われます。マズルカを聴くと、ショパンの心のふるさとが見えてきます。Even after leaving Poland, Chopin kept writing mazurkas. People often say they were his most personal music, carrying his feelings for his faraway homeland. He kept writing them late in life, and one of his very last works is often said to be a mazurka. Listening to his mazurkas lets us glimpse the home of his heart.
