🗣️ Look at my wish. I want to swim fast. / What do you want to do? / Oh, you want to play soccer well. Let's say it in English.

🗣️ Why a needle and thread on Tanabata? / Long ago in China, women prayed to become better at sewing. / In the Edo period, children wished for better handwriting.
get better at ~(〜が上達する)と be good at ~(〜が得意だ)のちがいを例文で示す(I'm good at drawing. / I want to get better at English.)。
🗣️ I'm good at drawing. That means I can draw well now. / I want to get better at English. That means I want to improve. / After "at," use a noun or -ing. Get better at swimming.
I want to get better at ~. で1文加えさせる(例:I want to get better at the piano. I will practice for 20 minutes every day.)。
🗣️ Write three things you want to get better at. / Choose one. What will you do? / I will practice for 20 minutes every day.

🗣️ Read your wishes to your partner. / Say "Good luck!" to your partner. / Let's put your wishes on the bamboo.
七夕のもともとの願い:上達(乞巧奠) China:women → better at sewing Edo Japan:children → better handwriting I'm good at ___.(今、得意) I want to get better at ___.(上達したい) at + 名詞 / -ing I will ___. 例:I want to get better at the piano. I will practice for 20 minutes every day.

Vega and Altair are about 14.4 light-years apart.
🗣️ Orihime is Vega. Hikoboshi is Altair. / They are about 14.4 light-years apart. / A light-year is not time. It is distance.
🗣️ Light travels about 300,000 kilometers in one second. / How far does it go in one year? Use your calculator. / About 9.5 trillion kilometers. Say it with me.
If they sent an email at the speed of light, when would it arrive?
🗣️ Hikoboshi sends an email at the speed of light. / When will it arrive? / It will take about 14 years. It will arrive in 2040.
Even light needs more than 14 years to travel between them.
🗣️ Even light needs more than 14 years. / Can they really meet once a year? / It's a beautiful story, but the stars are very far apart.
Vega(Orihime)⇔ Altair(Hikoboshi) about 14.4 light-years apart 1 light-year = the distance light travels in one year 300,000 km × 60 × 60 × 24 × 365 ≒ 9,460,000,000,000 km = about 9.5 trillion kilometers An email at the speed of light:2026 → about 2040 Even light needs more than 14 years.

🗣️ If it rains on Tanabata, is it happy or sad? / In Korea, rain is welcomed as tears of joy. / One story, different meanings. Let's compare.

🗣️ In Korea, rain means tears of joy, while in Japan it means sad tears. / Write one sentence for each point. / Check your facts with the table.
One story, in other words, can produce many different holidays.
🗣️ Each group has one minute. / One story can produce many different holidays. / Why do you think that happened?
Tanabata in Asia | rain | date | main custom / story China | — | 7th day of the 7th lunar month | a festival for couples Korea | tears of joy | 7th day of the 7th lunar month | the magpies' bald heads Japan | sad tears | July 7 / August / traditional date | wishes on tanzaku In Korea, rain means ___, while in Japan ___. 🗣️ Have you ever seen the stars on Tanabata night? / July 7 is in the middle of the rainy season. / What was the festival like before 1873?
🗣️ What happened in 1873? / How did communities respond? / Why does the observatory publish a traditional Tanabata date?
🗣️ List the pros and cons of each date. / July 7 is easy to remember, but it often rains. / What about the traditional date?
