Should governments invest money in space exploration?

I believe that governments should continue to invest money in space exploration. First, space programs produce technology that improves our daily lives. Weather satellites, for example, help forecasters warn people about typhoons and heavy rain, and these warnings save lives every year. Such large and risky projects are difficult for private companies to start on their own, so public money plays an essential role. Second, space exploration inspires young people to study science and engineering. When Artemis II carried four astronauts around the Moon in 2026, millions of students around the world followed the mission and dreamed of becoming scientists. A country that wants to stay competitive in the future needs these talented people. Of course, governments have many other important responsibilities, but space budgets are usually only a small part of national spending. For these reasons, I am convinced that investing in space is a wise choice for any government.

I think governments should spend money on space exploration. First, space research gives us useful things. For example, weather satellites tell us when a typhoon is coming, and this helps people stay safe. Second, space missions make children interested in science. Many students want to become scientists after they see astronauts on TV. These students will help their country in the future. So I think space exploration is a good use of money.

  • The money could be used for more urgent needs such as hospitals, schools and disaster prevention.
  • Private companies can now develop rockets more cheaply, so governments do not need to pay for everything.
