In 2027, astronauts will practice near Earth. They will join Orion with a Moon lander.Instead of going to the Moon, Orion will spend about 14 days in low Earth orbit, practicing rendezvous and docking with test versions of commercial Moon landers from Blue Origin and SpaceX.

Rise is a small toy. When it floats, the crew is in space!Astronauts bring a small plush toy as a “zero gravity indicator” — when it starts to float, they know they have reached space. Artemis II’s indicator, “Rise,” was inspired by Apollo 8’s famous Earthrise photo and carried an SD card with the names of millions of people.
