THE VOYAGER GOLDEN RECORD

Each Voyager carries a golden record. It has a needle and drawings that show how to play it. Both Voyagers launched in 1977, and they still send signals to Earth today. Each Voyager spacecraft carries a 12-inch gold-plated copper record. A committee led by astronomer Carl Sagan chose what to put on it. The record comes with a needle and drawings on its cover that show how to play it. Voyager 2 launched on August 20, 1977, and Voyager 1 on September 5, 1977. Both are still sending signals home today.2機のボイジャーには、それぞれ直径約30cm(12インチ)の、金メッキをした銅のレコードがとりつけられています。
VOYAGER 1 RIGHT NOW

A MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE
Maybe no one will ever find the record. Space is very, very big. But the record tells us who we are.The Voyagers are moving so far away that no one knows if anyone will ever find the record. Space is huge: it will take Voyager 1 tens of thousands of years just to pass near another star. But the record also says something to us on Earth: who we are, and what we wanted to share.
