🗣️ When is America's birthday? / Yes, July 4. But here is a surprise. / They did not decide on July 4. They did not sign on July 4, either. / Read the dates with me. July second, July fourth ...
🗣️ Match the dates and the actions. / Adopt means to accept something officially. / Now listen and check your answers.
On July 2, they voted.

🗣️ Why do Americans celebrate July 4, not July 2? / Look at the story. What date was on the printed copies? / Write one sentence. July 4 became the holiday because ...

🗣️ Give your letter to your partner. / Jefferson, please read it and write a reply. / Adams, write one more question for your friend.

🗣️ Read the text and fill in the timeline. / What happened in 1848? Who changed the famous line? / Douglass gave his speech on July 5, not July 4. Why might that matter?
advanced の最後の two parts of one story の意味を確認する。
🗣️ Now read the Juneteenth text. What happened in 1865? / What idea do the two texts share? Write one sentence. / A promise in 1776, and a long struggle to keep it.
Is July 4 a holiday for everyone?
🗣️ Is July 4 a holiday for everyone? Share your view first. / Use examples from the texts. Seneca Falls, Douglass, or 1865. / Now answer the other side. What would they say? / Three minutes left. What is your group's conclusion?
🗣️ One sentence from each group, please. / Now write your own essay. About 150 words. / Give two reasons and answer one point from the other side.

- all men are created equal

🗣️ Do you know this sentence? Who wrote it? / The last part means it is said that. So who said it first? / Many people think it comes from an American document.
(Life, Liberty, the pursuit of Happiness)に下線を引かせる。
🗣️ Read the sentence aloud with me. / Unalienable means no one can take it away. / Find the three rights and underline them.
🗣️ Look at Fukuzawa's translation. Find the same ideas. / How did he translate Creator? Why? / Now compare it with Gakumon no Susume.
🗣️ Make your own translation in today's Japanese. / Make it easy for junior high students. / Let's hear your translations.
All men are created equal ... Life / Liberty / the pursuit of Happiness unalienable = うばうことのできない 1866 福沢諭吉『西洋事情』で宣言を全文翻訳 Creator → 天 ? 1872『学問のすゝめ』 「天は人の上に人を造らず人の下に人を造らずと言えり」 と言えり=と言われている 今の日本語なら?
