マイクラでスイス全土を実物大に　1ブロック1メートルの「Blocks」

A new project has rebuilt the whole country of Switzerland in Minecraft. Everything is at full size, so one block is one meter. The world is called Blocks.

新しいプロジェクトで、スイスの国全体がマインクラフトの中に作られました。すべてが本物と同じ大きさで、1ブロックが1メートルです。この世界の名前は「Blocks（ブロックス）」です。

Switzerland is about 41,285 square kilometers. It is about 19 times the size of Tokyo. The project used open map data, such as data from the Swiss government. A computer program turned mountains, forests, lakes and buildings into blocks.

スイスの広さは、約4万1285平方キロメートルです。これは東京都の約19倍の広さです。このプロジェクトでは、スイスの国が出しているものなど、だれでも使えるように公開されている地図のデータを使いました。コンピューターのプログラムが、山や森、湖、建物をブロックに変えました。

Players can visit the Dufourspitze, the highest mountain in Switzerland. It is 4,634 meters tall. But a normal Minecraft world can only be 384 blocks high. So Blocks uses a mod called Cubic Chunks. Blocks works only on the Java Edition of Minecraft.

プレーヤーは、スイスでいちばん高い山、デュフールシュピッツェにも行けます。高さは4634メートルです。でも、ふつうのマイクラの世界は、高さ384ブロックまでしか作れません。そこで Blocks は、Cubic Chunks（キュービック・チャンクス）という MOD を使っています。マイクラの Java 版でしか動きません。

The Jungfrau-Aletsch area is free to download. It is about 2,400 square kilometers, a little larger than Tokyo. It includes the Eiger and the Aletsch Glacier. The whole country costs 15 Swiss francs. But only people who live in Switzerland can buy it.

ユングフラウ・アレッチという地域は、無料でダウンロードできます。広さは約2400平方キロメートルで、東京都より少し広いくらいです。アイガーという山や、アレッチ氷河も入っています。国全体は15スイスフランです。ただし、買えるのはスイスに住んでいる人だけです。

Blocks is still an early version. Its maker has not set a date for the final version.

A new project has rebuilt all of Switzerland in Minecraft at a scale of one block to one meter. The world, called Blocks, includes the entire country of Switzerland, which covers about 41,285 square kilometers. It has been released in early access, so it can be played now but is still being improved.

Blocks is a project of Manifold, which makes 3D models of Swiss mountains and places from map data. To build the world, a computer program converted open geographic data into blocks. The sources include swisstopo, the Swiss federal office in charge of maps. The program created the land, forests, lakes and buildings. The project's website says the buildings are simplified, and some roads or bridges may be wrong or missing.

Blocks は、地図のデータからスイスの山や場所の3D模型を作っている Manifold（マニフォールド）の計画です。世界を作るために、コンピューターのプログラムが、公開されている地理のデータをブロックに変えました。データのもとには、スイスの地図を担当する国の役所 swisstopo（スイス連邦地形局）がふくまれます。プログラムが、地形や森、湖、建物を作りました。計画の公式サイトによると、建物は形を簡単にしてあり、道路や橋の一部はまちがっていたり、無かったりすることがあります。

Standard Minecraft worlds can be no more than 384 blocks high. Switzerland's highest peak, the Dufourspitze, rises to 4,634 meters, more than 12 times that limit. To remove the limit, Blocks uses a mod called Cubic Chunks. The world runs on Java Edition 1.12.2 of the game.

ふつうのマインクラフトの世界は、高さ384ブロックまでしか作れません。スイスの最高峰デュフールシュピッツェは高さ4634メートルで、その上限の12倍をこえます。この上限を外すため、Blocks は Cubic Chunks という MOD を使っています。この世界は、ゲームの Java Edition 1.12.2 という版で動きます。

Players can download an area of about 2,400 square kilometers around Jungfrau-Aletsch for free. This UNESCO World Heritage area includes the Eiger and the Aletsch Glacier. The full country costs 15 Swiss francs, or about 2,900 yen. For legal reasons, it is sold only to people living in Switzerland. The full download is about 24 gigabytes and needs around 60 gigabytes of free storage.

ユングフラウ・アレッチのまわりの約2400平方キロメートルの地域は、無料でダウンロードできます。このユネスコ世界遺産の地域には、アイガーやアレッチ氷河がふくまれています。国全体は15スイスフラン、約2900円です。法律上の理由から、スイスに住んでいる人にだけ売られています。国全体のダウンロードは約24ギガバイトで、約60ギガバイトの空き容量が必要です。

Manifold plans to make water and rock faces look better. People who buy the world will get later versions at no extra cost. No date has been set for the final version. The website also states that Blocks is not an official Minecraft product.

Manifold は、水や岩の壁の見た目をよくする予定です。世界を買った人は、このあとの版も追加のお金なしで受け取れます。完成版の時期は、まだ決まっていません。公式サイトには、Blocks がマインクラフトの公式の製品ではないことも書かれています。
