花祭りとウェーサーカ祭：違い探しベン図
🎯 同じ人物を祝う2つの行事をくらべ、英語で共通点と相違点を言えるようにする。
- 花祭り（日本）とウェーサーカ祭（スリランカ・タイ）の写真を見せ、気づいたことを出させる。
- When? / What do people do? / What do they remember? の3点を表にまとめる。
- ベン図に整理し、Both festivals ... / Only Vesak ... の形で英語の文を3つ書いて発表する。

花祭りとウェーサーカ祭の写真を並べて見せ、気づいたことを日本語か英語で自由に言わせる。どちらもお釈迦さま（ブッダ）を祝う行事であることを伝える。宗教の行事なので、「変だ」ではなく「違う」ということばでくらべるよう最初に約束する。
🗣️ Look at these pictures. What do you see? / This is Hanamatsuri in Japan. This is Vesak in Sri Lanka. / Both festivals are for the Buddha. / Let's find the same points and the different points.
英語ページの音声で本文の第3・4段落を聞かせる（1回目は 0.8x）。When? / What do people do? / What do they remember? の3点を表にまとめさせる。答え合わせでは、花祭りは4月8日・誕生仏に甘茶をかける・誕生を祝う、ウェーサーカ祭は5月ごろの満月の日・ちょうちんや3周歩くなど・誕生と悟りと亡くなったことをまとめて記念する、の3点を確認する。

表をもとに、ベン図の真ん中に共通点、左右にそれぞれだけのことを書かせる。Both festivals ... / Only Vesak ... / Only Hanamatsuri ... の形で英語の文を3つ書かせる。机間指導で、事実が表と合っているかを確かめる。

🎯 月の満ち欠けで決まる行事のしくみを理解し、英語で説明する。
- 2026年5月に満月が2回あった（1日と31日）ことを紹介し、どちらがウェーサーカ祭か予想させる。
- 国連は5月1日、シンガポールは5月31日だったことを示し、なぜずれるのか話し合う。
- ほかの月の暦の行事（旧正月・ラマダン・中秋節など）を探し、It changes every year because ... で英語のまとめを書く。

2026年5月のカレンダーを見せ、この月は満月が5月1日と5月31日の2回あったことを伝える。ウェーサーカ祭は「5月ごろの満月の日」と説明し、どちらの日だったかを予想させて手をあげさせる。

国連の「ウェーサーカの日」は5月1日、シンガポールの祝日は5月31日だったことを示し、どちらの予想も正解だと伝える。なぜずれるのかをペアで話させてから、英語ページの音声で本文第4段落を聞かせ、because it follows the moon と In some years, there are two full moons in May, so countries choose different days. の2文を確認する。日付は国や宗派によって1日〜1か月ずれることも伝える。

ほかにも月の暦で日付が決まる行事があることを伝え、記事にある例として、韓国のブッダの誕生日は旧暦4月8日であることを紹介する。グループごとに旧正月・ラマダン・中秋節から1つを担当させ、このサイトの記事で今年と来年の日付を調べさせる。あわせて、日本の花祭りは明治時代に新しい暦になってからも4月8日のまま祝ったので毎年同じ日である、という対照を示す。
🗣️ Vesak is not the only holiday that follows the moon. / Each group, choose one: Lunar New Year, Ramadan, or the Mid-Autumn Festival. / Find the date this year and next year. / Japan's Hanamatsuri is always on April 8. Why doesn't it move?
調べた行事について、It changes every year because ... で始まる英語の説明を2〜3文書かせる。各グループ1人が発表する。最後に、同じ「5月の満月」でも国によって日がちがうことを全員でふり返る。
