超かぐや姫！とは？Netflixのアニメ映画、映画館の売り上げも34億円をこえる

A Netflix anime movie has earned more than 3.4 billion yen at theaters in Japan. Its Japanese title is Cho Kaguya-hime, and its English title is Cosmic Princess Kaguya.

Netflixのアニメ映画が、日本の映画館で34億円以上を売り上げました。日本語の題名は「超かぐや姫！」、英語の題名は Cosmic Princess Kaguya です。

It started on Netflix on January 22. Then it came to theaters on February 20. It was supposed to stay there for just one week. So many people went to see it that theaters kept showing it until June.

この映画は、1月22日にNetflixで配信が始まりました。そのあと2月20日に、映画館で公開されました。映画館での上映は、1週間だけの予定でした。見に行く人がとても多かったので、映画館は6月まで上映を続けました。

The story is based on The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, an old Japanese story. But in the movie, a baby comes out of a glowing electric pole, not bamboo. Songs by popular music producers are in the movie, too.

物語は、日本の古いお話「竹取物語」をもとにしています。でも映画では、赤ちゃんが出てくるのは竹ではなく、光る電柱からです。人気の音楽プロデューサーたちの歌も、映画に入っています。

Theaters started showing the movie again on September 18. The company that brings the movie to theaters made an announcement on October 20. It said this run will end on November 5. After that, other theaters will start showing it on November 6.

映画館は、9月18日にこの映画の上映をもう一度始めました。この映画を映画館に届けている会社が、10月20日に発表をしました。この上映は11月5日に終わる、ということです。そのあと、11月6日からは別の映画館で上映が始まります。

Cho Kaguya-hime, an anime film that has been streaming on Netflix since January, has earned more than 3.4 billion yen at Japanese theaters. Its distributor, Twin Engine, gave the update on October 20, when it also announced new screening plans.

1月からNetflixで配信されているアニメ映画「超かぐや姫！」が、日本の映画館で34億円以上を売り上げました。配給会社のツインエンジンが10月20日にこの数字を伝え、同じ日に新しい上映の予定も発表しました。

The film, known in English as Cosmic Princess Kaguya, began streaming worldwide on Netflix on January 22. It opened in theaters on February 20 for what was planned as a one-week run. Because demand stayed high, the run was extended. It finally ended on June 18. By then, about 1.34 million people had seen it in theaters, bringing in about 2.7 billion yen.

英語では Cosmic Princess Kaguya として知られるこの映画は、1月22日にNetflixで世界に向けて配信が始まりました。2月20日には、1週間だけの予定で映画館で公開されました。見たい人が多い状態が続いたため、上映はのばされました。上映が終わったのは6月18日でした。それまでに、約134万人が映画館で見て、売り上げは約27億円になっていました。

The story draws on The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, a classic Japanese story, but sets it in a near-future Japan. Iroha, a 17-year-old high school student, finds a baby that comes out of a glowing electric pole instead of bamboo. The baby quickly grows into a girl named Kaguya, who wants to become a top streamer in a virtual world called Tsukuyomi. Songs in the film come from popular Vocaloid producers, including ryo of supercell and kz of livetune.

物語は古典の「竹取物語」をもとにしていますが、舞台は少し未来の日本です。17歳の高校生の彩葉（いろは）は、竹ではなく光る電柱から出てきた赤ちゃんを見つけます。赤ちゃんはすぐにかぐやという少女に成長し、「ツクヨミ」という仮想空間でいちばんの配信者になろうとします。映画の歌は、supercell の ryo や livetune の kz など、有名なボカロPたちが手がけています。

The film returned to theaters on September 18. This time, it was also shown in special formats such as 4DX, which adds motion and other effects. That return will end on November 5. From November 6, a second run in the regular format will begin at new theaters.

映画は9月18日、映画館にもどってきました。このときは、動きなどの演出が加わる 4DX のような特別な形でも上映されました。このもう一度の上映は、11月5日に終わります。11月6日からは、新しく上映する映画館で、ふつうの形での上映が始まります。

Twin Engine also said 4DX screenings will continue for one more week, from November 6 to 12, because many shows were still nearly full. Some theaters will show a gentler 4DX version with weaker motion for viewers who are sensitive to strong movement.

ツインエンジンは、満席に近い回が続いたため、4DX の上映を11月6日から12日までの1週間続けるとも発表しました。一部の映画館では、強い動きが苦手な人のために、動きを弱くしたやさしい 4DX 版を上映します。
