Workers in Japan built a new train station building in one night. The building was made with a 3D printer. The building stands at Hatsushima Station in Arida, Wakayama.

A giant 3D printer made four big parts at a factory in Kumamoto. The printer pushed out special cement, layer by layer. Trucks then carried the parts to the station.

A railway company in Japan built a new station building in a single night, using parts made by a 3D printer. West Japan Railway Company installed the building at Hatsushima Station in Arida, Wakayama Prefecture, in late March 2025. The companies involved said it is the world's first 3D-printed station building.
日本の鉄道会社が、3Dプリンターで作った部品を使って、新しい駅舎をたった一晩で建てました。JR西日本は2025年3月下旬、和歌山県有田市の初島駅にこの建物を設置しました。かかわった会社は、これが世界初の3Dプリンター製の駅舎だとしています。
The parts were not printed at the station. A robotic arm at a factory in Kumamoto Prefecture squeezed out a special mortar, one thin layer at a time. The printer made four hollow sections over about a week. Workers then filled the sections with steel bars and concrete to make them stronger.

Trains use the line from early morning until late at night, so the crew had only a few hours to work. The last train left at around midnight on March 25.
