delve(デルヴ)という英単語、知っていますか?
トップは delve, underscore, primarily(主に), meticulous(細心の), boast(誇る)でした。

The English word "delve" means to look deeply into something. Before, people did not use it very often. But now it appears much more in science papers.
Why? Many writers use AI tools like ChatGPT, and AI likes words such as "delve" and "underscore." One study looked at more than 15 million papers. It found that at least 13.5 percent of the 2024 papers it checked used AI.

Q1. What does "delve" mean?
"delve" means to look deeply into something とあるので B。
Q2. How many papers did the study look at?
One study looked at more than 15 million papers とあるので A。
Q3. Why does "delve" appear more in science papers now?
Many writers use AI tools like ChatGPT, and AI likes words such as "delve" とあるので C。
Since ChatGPT appeared at the end of 2022, certain English words have suddenly become popular in scientific writing. Researchers analyzed more than 15 million medical and biological abstracts and found sharp increases in style words such as "delve," "underscore" and "showcasing." Based on these changes, they estimated that at least 13.5 percent of abstracts published in 2024 had been processed by AI.
Another study found that many of these words had started rising around 2020, so AI may have sped up an existing trend. A study of eye-research papers showed that writers from countries where English is not the main language adopted these words faster. Experts worry that relying on AI could make everyone's writing sound the same.

Q1. What kind of words increased in scientific writing?
sharp increases in style words such as "delve," "underscore" とあるので B。
Q2. What did another study find about these words?
many of these words had started rising around 2020 とあるので C。
Q3. What is the experts' concern?
relying on AI could make everyone's writing sound the same とあるので A。
Language has always changed as words spread from speaker to speaker, but large language models have introduced a new and unusually powerful influence. By tracking the frequency of style words in more than 15 million PubMed abstracts, one 2025 study found that terms like "delve" and "showcasing" surged after ChatGPT's release. The authors estimated from this that at least 13.5 percent of 2024 abstracts were processed with AI, and the shift exceeded even the vocabulary changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Other research complicates this.
One analysis showed that many such words had begun rising around 2020, suggesting AI amplified an existing trend rather than creating it, while a 2026 study of ophthalmology papers found that non-native English writers adopted these words faster without gaining more publications. Perhaps most significantly, a study of over 880,000 texts reported that AI rewriting reduced the variation in writing complexity by 21 to 50 percent, raising fears of homogenized expression. These corpus studies reveal trends across whole populations of papers, so they cannot say whether any one paper was written with AI.
