宇宙服のピカチュウが国際宇宙ステーションを見学！ESAが動画を公開

A Pikachu toy has taken a tour of the International Space Station. The European Space Agency (ESA) shared a video of the tour in early October. In the video, the soft toy wears a small space suit.

ピカチュウのぬいぐるみが、国際宇宙ステーションを見学しました。ヨーロッパ宇宙機関（ESA）が、10月のはじめにその見学の動画を公開しました。動画の中で、ぬいぐるみは小さな宇宙服を着ています。

The toy flew to the station with ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot. It stayed in space for 67 days, from April 11 to June 17. During that time, it went around Earth about 1,040 times.

このぬいぐるみは、ESAの宇宙飛行士ソフィー・アドノさんといっしょにステーションへ行きました。4月11日から6月17日まで、67日間宇宙にいました。その間に、地球のまわりを約1040周しました。

In the video, Adenot shows Pikachu around the station. She explains that the crew recycles 98 percent of its water. She also shows freezers that get as cold as minus 98 degrees Celsius. They are used for blood samples and science experiments.

動画では、アドノさんがピカチュウにステーションの中を案内します。乗組員は水の98％をリサイクルしていると、彼女は説明します。マイナス98度まで冷える冷凍庫も見せてくれます。冷凍庫は、血液のサンプルや科学の実験に使われます。

ESA made the video with The Pokémon Company for World Space Week, from October 4 to 10. A new space and Pokémon exhibition will visit museums in Europe until April 2027.

ESAは、10月4日から10日までの世界宇宙週間に合わせて、ポケモン社といっしょにこの動画を作りました。宇宙とポケモンの新しい展示も、2027年4月までヨーロッパの博物館をめぐります。

A plush Pikachu dressed in an astronaut suit has been given a guided tour of the International Space Station (ISS). The European Space Agency (ESA) posted the video on its YouTube channel during World Space Week, which ran from October 4 to 10. The video is part of a new partnership between ESA and The Pokémon Company International.

宇宙服を着たピカチュウのぬいぐるみが、国際宇宙ステーション（ISS）を案内してもらいました。ヨーロッパ宇宙機関（ESA）は、10月4日から10日まで開かれた世界宇宙週間の間に、この動画をYouTubeチャンネルに投稿しました。動画は、ESAとポケモン社の海外部門が始めた新しい協力の一部です。

The toy did not just pose for the camera on the ground. It flew to the station during the mission of ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot and spent 67 days in orbit, from April 11 to June 17, 2026. ESA said it completed about 1,040 orbits of Earth during that time.

このぬいぐるみは、地上でカメラの前に立っただけではありません。ESAの宇宙飛行士ソフィー・アドノさんのミッション中にステーションへ運ばれ、2026年4月11日から6月17日まで67日間、地球の周回軌道にいました。ESAによると、その間に地球を約1040周したということです。

In the video, Adenot guides Pikachu through the systems that keep the crew alive. She explains that the station recycles 98 percent of its water with a filtration system. She also shows freezers that can reach minus 98 degrees Celsius, which are used for blood samples and scientific experiments. The tour ends in the crew quarters.

動画の中でアドノさんは、乗組員の命を支える設備をピカチュウに案内します。ステーションではろ過装置を使って水の98％をリサイクルしていると、彼女は説明します。さらに、マイナス98度まで冷える冷凍庫も見せます。これは血液のサンプルや科学実験に使われています。見学は乗組員の個室で終わります。

The partnership reaches beyond a single video. ESA and Pokémon have created a family exhibition that mixes real space science with Pokémon characters. Its panels explain how Europe launches missions, supports astronauts on the ISS and studies the Sun. After opening at ESA sites in six countries, the exhibition is touring museums such as the Science Museum in London until April 2027.

Players of the mobile game Pokémon GO can also join in. Until April 30, 2027, participating museums are holding raids featuring Astronaut Pikachu. ESA said the project aims to spark curiosity about space among people of all ages, especially young people.

スマホゲーム「ポケモンGO」のプレイヤーも参加できます。2027年4月30日まで、参加している博物館では、宇宙飛行士のピカチュウが登場するレイドバトルが開かれます。ESAは、この企画の目的は、あらゆる年代の人、とくに若い世代に宇宙への好奇心を持ってもらうことだと話しています。
