手術ロボットが人の操作なしで手術に成功！動画を見て学んだAI

A robot in the United States did an important part of a surgery by itself. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University shared the results on July 9, 2025.

アメリカで、ロボットが手術の大事な部分を自分の力でやりとげました。ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学の研究者たちが、2025年7月9日にこの結果を発表しました。

The robot removed a gallbladder in a lab. The gallbladder is a small organ near the liver. The tests were not on living patients.

ロボットは、実験室で胆のうを取り出しました。胆のうは、肝臓の近くにある小さな臓器です。テストは、生きている患者さんで行われたものではありません。

The robot learned by watching videos of doctors. During the tests, team members also gave it instructions by voice. The robot understood the instructions and moved its arms.

The robot did the job in all eight tests. Each time, it finished 17 small tasks, such as cutting and clipping. It was slower than a human doctor. But its results were as good as an expert's results.

The robot is not ready to work in hospitals yet. Next, the team wants it to do a whole surgery from start to finish.

A surgical robot has completed a key stage of gallbladder removal in a lab without a human controlling its arms. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University in the United States reported the results on July 9, 2025, in the journal Science Robotics.

The robot, called SRT-H, was tested eight times on gallbladders in a lab, not on living patients. In each test, it carried out 17 tasks in a row, including clipping small blood vessels and cutting tissue. The team said the robot succeeded in all eight tests.

SRT-Hとよばれるこのロボットは、生きた患者ではなく、実験室の胆のうで8回テストされました。テストのたびに、細い血管をクリップでとめたり組織を切ったりするなど、17の作業を続けて行いました。チームによると、ロボットは8回のテストすべてで成功しました。

The robot was not programmed step by step. Instead, it learned by watching videos of surgeons, with each clip paired with simple written descriptions. Its AI uses the same basic design as popular chatbots, so it can also follow spoken instructions from the team. When the tissue looked different from what it expected, the robot adjusted its movements and kept working.

このロボットは、手順を一つずつプログラムされたわけではありません。かわりに、外科医の手術の動画を見て学びました。それぞれの動画には、かんたんな説明文がつけられていました。そのAIは人気のチャットAIと同じ基本設計を使っているので、チームが声で出す指示にも従うことができます。組織の見た目が予想とちがっていたときも、ロボットは動きを調整して作業を続けました。

The robot took a few minutes longer than a human surgeon. However, the researchers said its results were comparable to those of an expert surgeon. In 2022, an earlier robot from the same team operated on a live pig, but it needed specially marked tissue and a fixed plan.

The new robot is not ready for hospitals. The team now wants it to perform a full operation from start to finish. The researchers also plan to test the robot on live animals and train it for other types of surgery.
