イチローが野球殿堂入り！英語スピーチで笑いと感謝

Ichiro Suzuki joined the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, on July 27, 2025. He is the first Japanese-born player in the Hall of Fame.

2025年7月27日（日本時間28日）、イチロー（鈴木一朗）さんがニューヨーク州クーパーズタウンのアメリカ野球殿堂入りをしました。日本で生まれた選手が殿堂入りしたのは、彼が初めてです。

Ichiro gave a speech in front of about 30,000 people. Many of them were Seattle Mariners fans. He spoke in English for about 18 minutes. His speech had many jokes.

イチローさんは、およそ3万人の前でスピーチをしました。その多くは、シアトル・マリナーズのファンでした。彼は英語で約18分間話しました。スピーチにはたくさんのジョークがありました。

Baseball writers vote for new members of the Hall of Fame. Ichiro got 393 of 394 votes. In his speech, he made a joke about the one writer who did not vote for him.

Ichiro got 3,089 hits in the major leagues. In 2004, he got 262 hits, the most ever in one season. In his speech, he also said that doing small things well every day is important.

Ichiro Suzuki was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, on July 27, 2025. He became the first Japanese-born player to be inducted. About 30,000 fans attended the ceremony, many of them supporters of the Seattle Mariners.

Ichiro delivered his speech in English, and it lasted about 18 minutes. In the vote held earlier in the year, he received 393 of 394 ballots from the Baseball Writers' Association of America, or 99.7 percent. During the speech, he joked about the one writer who left him off the ballot, saying that his offer to have dinner with that writer had expired.

イチローは英語でスピーチを行い、その長さは約18分でした。その年の初めに行われた投票では、全米野球記者協会の394票のうち393票、つまり99.7％を獲得していました。スピーチの中で彼は、自分に投票しなかった1人の記者について、その記者を自宅での夕食に招くという話は「もう期限切れです」とジョークを飛ばしました。

Ichiro also spoke about what baseball had taught him. He said players owe fans their full effort, whether their team is far ahead or far behind, because fans spend their time to watch. He added that paying attention to small details every day helped him keep playing at the top level until the age of 45.

イチローは、野球が自分に教えてくれたことについても語りました。ファンは時間を使って見に来てくれるのだから、チームが大きく勝っていても負けていても、選手は全力を出す責任があると話しました。さらに、毎日細かいことに気を配ってきたことが、45歳までトップレベルでプレーし続けられた理由だと付け加えました。

Ichiro played 19 seasons in the major leagues for the Mariners, the New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins. He collected 3,089 hits, and his 262 hits in 2004 are still the most in a single season. In 2001, his first year in the majors, he won both the Rookie of the Year and MVP awards. Only Fred Lynn, in 1975, had done that before.

イチローはメジャーリーグで19シーズンプレーし、マリナーズ、ニューヨーク・ヤンキース、マイアミ・マーリンズに所属しました。通算3089安打を記録し、2004年の262安打は今でも1シーズンの最多記録です。メジャー1年目の2001年には、新人王とMVPの両方を受賞しました。それより前にこれを成しとげたのは、1975年のフレッド・リンだけでした。

Before moving to the United States, Ichiro had 1,278 hits in Japan's professional league. His combined total of 4,367 hits is higher than Pete Rose's major league record of 4,256.

アメリカに移る前、イチローは日本のプロ野球で1278安打を打っていました。日米合計の4367安打は、ピート・ローズが持つメジャーリーグ記録の4256安打を上回っています。
