At home, families bake Anzac biscuits with oats and golden syrup.
🗣️ April 25 is Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand. / It is a quiet day. People remember those who died in wars. / At home, families bake Anzac biscuits. / Today, let's read a recipe in English.
🗣️ Look. These are rolled oats. / This is golden syrup. It's sweet. / Repeat after me. Flour. Sugar. Butter. / Which card is missing?
Mix / Melt / Pour / Make / Bake
🗣️ Put the cards in the right order. / Find the verbs. Mix, melt, pour, make, bake. / What comes first? / Read with me and do the action.
In shops, you must not call them cookies! Australian and New Zealand Army Corps
🗣️ In shops, you must not call them cookies. Why? / ANZAC means the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. / It is a special word. The law protects it. / So in shops, they are always biscuits.
First, ~. Then, ~. Next, ~. Finally, ~.
🗣️ Explain the recipe to your partner. / Use first, then, next, and finally. / First, mix the oats, flour and sugar. / Change roles.
🍪 Anzac biscuits (Anzac Day=April 25:戦争で亡くなった人々を追悼する日) rolled oats / flour / sugar / butter / golden syrup First, mix the oats, flour and sugar. Then, melt the butter and golden syrup. Next, pour it into the bowl and mix. Make small balls. Finally, bake them in the oven. In shops, you must not call them cookies! → ANZAC=Australian and New Zealand Army Corps → オーストラリアでは1921年から法律で言葉の使い方が決められている
- Both days ~. But ~.

Why do you think people get up so early?
🗣️ It is four in the morning on April 25. / People are walking quietly to a war memorial. / Why do you think people get up so early? / Today we will think about two days to remember war.
本文全体を読ませ、Who / When / What / Why の表をペアで埋めさせる。 It is a day to remember people who died in all wars. Anzac Day is not a happy holiday.
🗣️ Read the whole passage. Fill in the table with your partner. / Who goes to the dawn service? / What do people say after the poem? / Why is Anzac Day important?
🗣️ Now make the same table for August 15 in Japan. / Check your textbook. Write only what you can check. / You can leave a box empty. / What do people do on that day?
🗣️ In 1914, a Japanese ship helped protect the Anzac soldiers. / Later, in World War II, Japan and Australia were enemies. / Put these events on a timeline. / How did the relationship change?
But ~. の形で共通点とちがいを3文書かせる(例:Both days are for remembering people who died in war. But on Anzac Day, people say "Lest we forget.")。
🗣️ Look at your two tables. / Write three sentences. Use "Both days" and "But." / Both days are for remembering people who died in war. / Lest we forget. It means we must not forget.
