Scientists in the United States showed people a new color in 2025. They named it olo. Only five people in the world have seen it.

Our eyes have three kinds of cells for seeing color. Usually, light hits two or three kinds at the same time. The scientists used a special laser to touch only one kind. These cells usually help us see green.

All five people saw a very bright blue-green. Some of them compared it to the green-blue of a peacock. One scientist said that even the brightest natural colors looked pale next to it.

You cannot see olo on a phone or a TV. The team hopes the research may help people who have trouble seeing colors. The study was published in the science journal Science Advances.
