Have you ever felt your phone vibrate, but there was no message? This is called a phantom vibration. It is very common. In one survey, about 90 percent of university students had felt it.
Why does it happen? Your brain may be waiting for a message. So it may think a small feeling, like your clothes moving, is your phone. Try keeping your phone in your bag.

Q1. What is the passage mainly about?
Q2. About how many university students had felt it in one survey?
about 90 percent of university students had felt it とあるので B。
Q3. In this passage, "common" means ...
Many people sometimes feel their phone vibrating in their pocket when it is not. This is known as phantom vibration. In a 2010 survey of 169 hospital staff, 68 percent had experienced it, and 13 percent felt it every day. A 2012 study found that 89 percent of 290 university students had felt phantom vibrations, although most said it did not bother them much.
Stress may make it worse. In 2013, researchers in Taiwan followed 74 young doctors through their first year of training. The rate rose from 78 percent before training to 96 percent after three months, and then fell to 50 percent two weeks after training ended. Expecting an important call seems to make the brain overly sensitive.

Q1. What is the passage mainly about?
Q2. What happened to the rate among the young doctors after three months of training?
rose from 78 percent before training to 96 percent after three months とあるので C。
Q3. What can we infer from the Taiwan study?
In a 2010 survey of 169 hospital doctors and staff published in the BMJ, 68 percent said they had felt their phone vibrate when it had not. This false sensation, known as phantom vibration, usually began somewhere between one month and a year after they started carrying a device. Thirteen percent experienced it daily, and it was more common among those who kept the device in a chest pocket or used vibrate mode frequently.
Among 290 American undergraduates in a 2012 study, the figure reached 89 percent, though few found it bothersome. These studies relied on self-reports from specific groups, and a 2014 systematic review judged research on the causes and consequences to be limited. A 2013 Taiwanese study took a different approach, following 74 medical interns for a year.
The rate rose from 78 percent before their internship to 96 percent after three months, then dropped to 50 percent two weeks after it ended. Phantom ringing showed a similar rise. A common explanation is that the brain, anticipating an important signal, lowers its threshold and misreads minor sensations, such as clothing rubbing against the skin.
