国の誕生日比べ：カナダ・アメリカ・日本
🎯 国の記念日の日付と由来を英語で読み取り、比べて説明する。
- カナダ・デー（7月1日）、アメリカの独立記念日（7月4日）、日本の建国記念の日（2月11日）のカードを配る。
- When? / Why? / What do people do? を英語で表にまとめる。
- Canada Day is ... but Independence Day is ... の形で、違いを2文で発表する。

英語ページの会話を聞かせ、ユウトの Is it like Independence Day in America? とクロエの答え Not really. ... We didn't fight a war for it. の部分を確認する。国の誕生日の祝い方は国によってちがうことに気づかせ、今日は3つの国の記念日を比べると伝える。
🗣️ Listen to Yuto and Chloe. / Yuto asks, "Is it like Independence Day in America?" / Chloe says, "Not really." Why? / Today, let's compare three countries' special days.
カナダ・デーのカードを全員で読み、表のカナダの行を一緒に埋める。1867年7月1日に4つの州からなる国ができたこと、もとはドミニオン・デーという名前だったこと、赤と白の服でピクニックやパレード、花火を楽しむことを確認する。
🗣️ When is Canada Day? It's on July 1. / Why? In 1867, a new country with four provinces was born. / What do people do? They wear red and white and watch fireworks.
4人グループで、アメリカと日本のカードを2人ずつ分担して読ませる。読んだ内容を相手に英語で伝え合い、表の残りの行を埋めさせる。カードにない内容は書かないよう指示する。

表を見ながら、Canada Day is ... but Independence Day is ... の形でちがいを2文書かせる。1文目は日付、2文目は由来か過ごし方で書くよう指示する。日本の建国記念の日と比べる文に変えてもよいことにする。
🗣️ Write two sentences. / Canada Day is on July 1, but Independence Day is on July 4. / Your second sentence is about why or what people do.
何人かに2文を発表させる。最後に Happy Canada Day! と、フランス語の Bonne fête du Canada! を紹介し、カナダでは英語とフランス語が公用語であることにふれて終える。

国旗をデザインしよう：メープルリーフ誕生の話
🎯 シンボルに込められた意味を考え、英語で説明・提案する。
- 1964年の「国旗大論争」と、数千の案から11の先をもつメープルリーフが選ばれたことを紹介する。
- グループで、自分の学校や町の旗を考え、色と形の意味を決める。
- This flag has ... It means ... の形で英語のプレゼンを行い、クラスで投票する。

カナダの国旗の拡大図を見せ、メープルリーフのとがった先がいくつあるかを数えさせる（11か所）。この旗が初めて掲げられたのは1965年2月15日で、1867年の国の誕生よりずっと新しいことを伝える。
🗣️ This is the flag of Canada. / How many points does the maple leaf have? Count them. / Yes, 11 points. / This flag first flew in 1965. It is quite new.
英語ページ本文の第3段落を音声で聞かせる。1964年の委員会が、一般から寄せられた約2000の案なども検討してこのデザインを選んだことを紹介する。なぜメープルリーフや赤と白が選ばれたと思うか、ペアで予想を英語で1文言わせる（理由は予想として扱い、答えは示さない）。

グループで、自分たちの学校か町の旗をデザインさせる。色を2〜3色に決め、形や絵を1つ入れ、それぞれに意味をつけるよう指示する。デザインと同時に、This flag has ... It means ... の説明文を英語で4文程度書かせる。

各グループが旗を見せながら1分半でプレゼンする。聞いているグループは、プレゼンのあと英語で質問を1つする（Why did you choose ... ?）。

自分のグループ以外の旗に1票ずつ投票させ、結果を発表する。カナダの国旗も多くの案の中から選ばれたことをふり返り、シンボルには選んだ人の考えが込められていることを確認して終える。
