When should you start studying for a test? Scientists say it is better to study the same things two times on different days. This is called spaced learning. Studying everything the night before does not help you remember for long.
In one big study, for a test one week later, the best gap between two study times was about 20 to 40 percent of that week. So start two or three weeks before the test.

Q1. What is the passage mainly about?
Q2. What is better, according to scientists?
it is better to study the same things two times on different days とあるので C。
Q3. In the passage, "gap" means ...
Many students study only the night before a test, but research shows that this is not the best way to remember things. If you study the same material on two different days, you will usually remember it longer. This is called the spacing effect.
In a 2008 experiment with more than 1,350 people, researchers changed the gap between the first study session and the review. They found that the best gap depended on when the final test was. For a test one week later, the best gap was about 20 to 40 percent of that time. Based on this, students should start about two to three weeks before a test and review after a few days.

Q1. What is the main idea of the passage?
Q2. What did the researchers change in the 2008 experiment?
researchers changed the gap between the first study session and the review とあるので C。
Q3. If your test is two weeks away, which plan fits the passage best?
The spacing effect, the finding that spreading study across separate sessions produces better long-term retention than cramming the same amount into one session, is among the most reliable results in psychology. A 2006 analysis of hundreds of experimental results confirmed it, and a 2013 review of learning techniques gave spaced practice its highest rating. A 2008 online experiment with more than 1,350 participants examined the ideal timing. Participants learned obscure facts, reviewed them after gaps of up to three and a half months, and took a final test up to a year later.
The optimal gap was not fixed: it was roughly 20 to 40 percent of the time until the test when the test was one week away, but only about 5 to 10 percent when it was a year away. Gaps that were too short tended to be more costly than gaps that were too long. One limitation is that the material consisted of simple facts, so the results may not transfer directly to schoolwork that requires understanding. Learners also often fail to notice the benefit: in a 2009 flashcard study, 90 percent of participants did better with spacing, yet 72 percent believed cramming had been more effective.
