- 英語は3桁区切り：thousand（千）→million（百万）→billion（十億）
- a quarter to eight＝7時45分（to は「〜前」）
- -teen は後ろが強く、-ty は前が強い
大きな数は「コンマの位置＝単位」
日本語は4桁ごと（万・億）、英語は3桁ごとに単位が変わる。コンマ1つ目＝thousand、2つ目＝million、3つ目＝billion。1万＝ten thousand、100万＝a million、1億＝a hundred million、10億＝a billionを暗記しておけば、あとは組み合わせで変換できる。

数字の聞き取り5原則5
- 1コンマの前の語が単位thousand・million・billion を聞いたら、その前の数（1〜999）に単位を付けるだけ。3.5 million のように小数も使う。
- 2-teen と -ty は強さでfifteen は「フィフティーン」と後ろが強く長い。fifty は「フィフティ」と前が強い。名詞が続くと -teen も前寄りになるので文脈も確認。
- 3聞いたら数字で書く英語のつづりで書かず、すぐ数字と単位（$・%・時）でメモする。
- 4計算は最後に割引（20% off）・合計・差・人数の増減は、放送の数字がそのまま答えとは限らない前提で聞く。
- 5変更・訂正を待つActually, it's 7:30, not 7:00. のように数字は訂正されやすい。最後に出た数字ではなく、Actually の後で言い直した数字が答え（not が付く方は誤り）。
