A Year on Pretend Mars
1Four people walked out of a pretend Mars base in Texas on October 31. They had lived inside it for 378 days. The base is at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
2The base was made with a 3D printer. It has a kitchen, two bathrooms and areas for growing plants.
3The four people did not step outside for more than a year. They talked with their families only by email. The messages did not arrive right away, just like messages from Mars.
4During their stay, they grew plants and did pretend spacewalks. They also became their own barbers and fixed the plumbing.
5NASA wants to learn how people can stay healthy on a long trip to Mars. Now the four will spend two weeks taking tests and talking with NASA scientists.

They had lived inside it for 378 days.
