Ramen Shop Game Sells 100,000 Copies Within a Week

1A cooperative video game in which players run their own ramen shop has sold more than 100,000 copies about a week after its release. Japanese Ramen Simulator, made by the game company Wild Dog, went on sale on Oct. 9 as an early access version on Steam, a major online game store for PCs. The company announced on Oct. 16 that total sales had passed 100,000.

2Early access means people can buy and play a game while it is still being developed. In Japanese Ramen Simulator, players prepare soup, boil noodles and put toppings on the noodles to make bowls that match each customer's order. According to the game's Steam page, groups of up to six players can split the work online, while solo players can hire part-time staff controlled by the computer.

3The regular price is 1,900 yen, including tax. To mark the launch, it is being sold for a limited time at 1,615 yen, which is 15 percent off.

4Wild Dog also shared its plans for future updates. In the short term, it plans to add karaage, a style of Japanese fried chicken, as a new menu item. A meal ticket machine, a self-service water server and a tool for designing the part-timers' characters are also on the list. Fried rice and new part-timer roles, such as gyoza staff, are planned after that. In the long run, the company plans to add new kinds of ramen, street stall ramen and a feature for making noodles.

1プレイヤーが自分のラーメン屋を経営する協力プレイのゲームが、発売から約1週間で10万本以上売れました。ゲーム会社ワイルドドッグの「Japanese Ramen Simulator」は、10月9日に、パソコン用の大きなゲーム販売サイト「Steam」で、早期アクセス版として発売されました。会社は10月16日、販売本数の合計が10万本をこえたと発表しました。

2早期アクセスとは、まだ開発中のゲームを買って遊べるしくみのことです。このゲームでは、スープを仕込み、麺をゆで、トッピングを盛りつけて、お客さん一人一人の注文に合った一杯を作ります。Steamのゲームのページによると、最大6人のグループがネットで仕事を分けあえるほか、1人で遊ぶ人はコンピューターが動かすアルバイトをやとうこともできます。
