Armand Duplantis set a new world record in the pole vault in Tokyo on September 15, 2025. He cleared a bar 6.30 meters high. That is about as high as the roof of a two-story house.

Duplantis is from Sweden. He was 25 years old at the time. He made the jump at the World Athletics Championships at Japan National Stadium.

More than 50,000 people watched. He won the gold medal first. Then he asked for a higher bar. He failed two times, but he made it on his third and last try.

The silver medal winner jumped 6.00 meters, 30 centimeters lower. This was the 14th world record of his career. Each time, he has made the world record one centimeter higher. His last record was 6.29 meters in Budapest, just one month before.
