Gal Magazine Names Its Top Word
1A Japanese gal magazine has named joto kaiwai its top buzzword of the year. The magazine's publisher released its top 10 list on November 2.
2Joto kaiwai describes people who are a little wild and tough. It can also describe that kind of style or mood. The phrase started with a dating reality show that featured a former egg model. Now people use it on social media to talk about looks and character.
3Frenemy came second. It mixes the English words friend and enemy. A frenemy acts like a friend but is secretly an enemy. Bari kimazui, which means very awkward, came third.
4The editors asked models from egg and two other gal magazines and sites, along with other young gals. They ranged from elementary school students to people in their 20s. The editors also checked social media and then chose the final list.

英語の friend(友だち)と enemy(敵)を合わせた言葉です。
文法ポイント:関係代名詞 who(人 + who + 動詞)
本文の people who are a little wild and tough(ちょっぴりヤンチャで強めな人)がその例。who のあとの be動詞は、前の名詞 people に合わせて are になる。
