Fruit and Teen Mental Health
1Teens who ate more fruit were less likely to show signs of depression, a study has found. Any kind of fruit counted.
2Researchers at the University of Sydney studied 6,537 students from 71 schools. The schools were in three Australian states. The students answered a survey once a year from Year 7 to Year 10. Their average age at the start was between 12 and 13.
3For each extra serving of fruit a day, the risk of depression was about 13 percent lower. The risk of anxiety was about 7 percent lower. Students who had more sugary drinks, such as soft drinks and sports drinks, had a higher risk. This link was stronger in boys.
4The study shows a link, not a cause. The lead researcher said the study does not mean an apple can keep depression away. On average, the students ate two to two and a half servings of fruit a day.

本文の the risk of depression was about 13 percent lower は「うつのリスクが約13%低かった」。 This link was stronger in boys.
