BTS Becomes the First Group With 10 Billion Spotify Plays in a Year

1Songs by BTS have been streamed more than 10 billion times on Spotify this year. That makes the K-pop band the first group ever to hit that number in one year. The band's agency, BigHit Music, announced the milestone on October 16.

2The 10 billion mark had already been passed by solo stars, including Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift. Until now, however, no group had managed it.

3In 2025, BTS songs drew 4.5 billion streams on Spotify. This year's total is up about 122 percent, more than double last year's figure. Spread over the days from January 1 to October 16, it works out to more than 30 million streams a day.

4Arirang, the band's fifth studio album, which was released on March 20, was the main driver of the growth. It was the full group's first project for almost four years. It came out once each of the seven members had done his mandatory military service and the group was back together.

5Arirang by itself had passed 5 billion streams as of October 14. No album released in 2026 has been played more on Spotify. On the album's release day, BTS songs as a whole were streamed about 130 million times.

6The band is now on its Arirang world tour, with shows in Argentina and Brazil coming up next. On October 14, BTS was also named Artist of the Year at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards Japan.
