1A new line of Pokémon card sets goes on sale in Japan on October 16, marking 30 years of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The first cards were sold in Japan on October 20, 1996.

2The game has grown far beyond its home country. According to The Pokémon Company, more than 85 billion cards had been produced by the end of March 2026. The cards have been sold in more than 90 countries and regions and printed in 16 languages.

3Each of the new sets costs 1,200 yen. It contains three shiny promotional cards, two six-card packs and a paper stand for displaying the cards. There are nine versions, and each one features the three starter Pokémon from one region in the games. The company said the 30th CELEBRATION expansion pack, released on September 16, was the first Pokémon card product to go on sale at the same time in most of the world.

4Lawson, a convenience store chain in Japan, expects many shoppers to come for the sets. The chain, which sells two of the nine sets, said each customer can buy only one of each card set per purchase. Lawson said the limit and start time may differ at some stores. It is not taking orders in advance. It said it may refuse to sell the sets to people who wait in the store or parking lot to buy them, or who buy them to resell.

5More anniversary events are coming in late October and early November. The 30th CELEBRATION EVENT will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on October 25, and another will take place in Osaka on October 31 and November 1. Entry is free, but people had to win a lottery in advance.

110月16日、日本でポケモンカードの新しいセットが発売されます。ポケモンカードゲームの30周年を記念するものです。最初のカードは、1996年10月20日に日本で売り出されました。
