Golden Kamuy Drama Will Follow Asirpa to Sakhalin

1The live-action Golden Kamuy series will continue as a TV drama next year, its makers announced on Oct. 16. The drama will start at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2027. It will be shown exclusively on WOWOW, a Japanese TV channel, and on its streaming service. The new drama covers the part of the story set in Karafuto, the Japanese name for Sakhalin.

2Golden Kamuy is a manga by Satoru Noda, and more than 31 million copies are in print. It is set in Hokkaido in the early 1900s. Saichi Sugimoto, a former soldier, teams up with Asirpa, an Ainu girl, to find a huge amount of gold stolen from the Ainu people. Rival groups, including an army unit, are chasing the same gold.

3The drama picks up after the Abashiri Prison movie, which was released in theaters on March 13, 2026. After the battle at Abashiri Prison, Sugimoto and Asirpa are separated. Asirpa travels to Sakhalin, a large island north of Hokkaido, with three other characters. To follow her, Sugimoto joins forces with Lieutenant Tsurumi's army unit, which used to be his enemy. The drama will also explore the past of Asirpa's father, Wilk.

4Kento Yamazaki and Anna Yamada are returning as Sugimoto and Asirpa. Many of the main cast members from the movies, including Hiroshi Tamaki and Hiroshi Tachi, will also come back. Kenji Katagiri, who directed the Abashiri Prison movie, is directing the drama. Noda, the creator of the manga, said the drama looks as good as a movie.

5The official Golden Kamuy account posted a short teaser on X on the evening of Oct. 16. In the teaser, a dog sled races across a snowfield.

1実写版『ゴールデンカムイ』シリーズが、来年テレビドラマとして続くと、制作側が10月16日に発表しました。ドラマは2027年1月24日（日）の夜10時に始まります。日本のテレビ局 WOWOW と、その配信サービスだけで見られます。新しいドラマは、物語のうち樺太（サハリンの日本での呼び名）が舞台の部分をえがきます。
