Japan Will Try to Bring Back Sand From a Mars Moon
1Japan is set to launch a spacecraft toward Mars on Oct. 20. The spacecraft is called MMX. It will try to bring back sand from one of the moons of Mars.
2Mars has two small moons, Phobos and Deimos. Phobos is only about 20 to 30 kilometers across. MMX plans to land on Phobos and collect more than 10 grams of sand. That is about 100 times the goal of Japan's Hayabusa2.
3No mission has brought back samples from the area around Mars before. The sand is planned to arrive on Earth in 2031.
4An H3 rocket will lift off at 4:41 a.m. from Tanegashima in Kagoshima. JAXA says people in many parts of Japan may be able to see it. About five and a half minutes after launch, sunlight may hit the rocket. Then it may shine in the dark sky.

文法ポイント:be set to ~ / be planned to ~(~する予定だ)
Japan is set to launch a spacecraft The sand is planned to arrive ...
