1Japanese high school students have chosen an old song as their top online hit of early 2026. The song is Yoru no Odoriko by the band Sakanaction. It first came out in 2012. In a survey, 6.1 percent of 377 students named it.

2The song became popular again because of short videos. In the videos, the song plays over clips of a boat race in Indonesia. The trend started in South Korea and then came to Japan.

3The race is called Pacu Jalur. It is held every August on a river in Riau Province. Each long wooden boat has dozens of rowers. Children dance at the front of the boats to give the rowers energy.

4Clips of these dancing children spread around the world in 2025. In 2026, videos that mixed these clips with the Japanese song became a big hit. Related videos on TikTok had more than 1.1 billion views by May. On June 30, the song won a TikTok award.

1日本の高校生が、2026年前半のネットでいちばんのヒットに、昔の曲を選びました。その曲は、バンドのサカナクションの「夜の踊り子」です。最初に出たのは2012年です。ある調査で、377人のうち6.1パーセントの高校生がこの曲を挙げました。

2この曲は、短い動画のおかげでふたたび人気になりました。動画では、インドネシアのボートレースの映像に合わせてこの曲が流れます。この流行は韓国で始まり、そのあと日本にやって来ました。

3そのレースは「パチュ・ジャルール」とよばれています。毎年8月に、リアウ州の川で行われます。長い木のボート1そうに、何十人ものこぎ手が乗ります。ボートの先頭では子どもがおどり、こぎ手を元気づけます。
