Can Video Games Help Kids Think?
1Children who played more video games had bigger gains in intelligence scores, a study found. Researchers at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden led the study.
2They used data on more than 9,000 children in the United States. The children were nine or ten years old when they first took the tests. Two years later, more than 5,000 of them took the tests again.
3On average, the children watched TV and videos for 2.5 hours a day. Games took one hour, and social media took half an hour. The children with more game time than average gained about 2.5 more IQ points. Time on social media showed no effect.
4The researchers said games may help children's intelligence grow. But they did not study the effects on sleep, exercise, well-being, or school grades. The study was not an experiment. It only looked at what the children already did.
5The screen time came from answers to questions, so it may not be exact. The team also did not compare kinds of games.

文法ポイント:比較級 + than(~より…)
本文の more game time than average は「平均より長いゲームの時間」。
